    planting seeds

    first i would put the seed inside a wet paper towel for a day and let it start to barely sprout, the put it in dirt, it really does not matter which way to put the seed in dirt as nature has its way to do things

    to be on the safe side i would put it root down the root is the bit coming out where the seed has cracked, make a little hole in the soil less than 1cm deep
    and lightly cover with soil
    An empty bowl needs to be filled, a full bowl needs to be emptied

    Place the seed with either the crack or the 'pointy end' down, about 1/4 inch down.

    If planted upside down it has to use up some of it stored energy to right it's self instead of using that stored energy to grow.

    i'll say it agian
    IT dont matter,
    maybe this needs said in these terms

    roots= grow down to water and nutrients
    stem= grow up to stick leaf(s) in the sunlight
    seeds= knows what to do
    you = cant change that.
    peace

    Yep I gotta agree with that. Christ, throw the seeds out the window and they will find a way to sprout all on their own.

    As for the energy use theory, you may gain one day or so of growth but the plant isn't going to be any stronger because it made it to light. Remmeber the things will sprout and grow for a bit in total darkness.

    It will get its energy from the light.

    BOttom line?

    plant the seeds as they fall.

    Well KanMan you tried to tell them. You are right of course and this is one thing all the experts agree on. But then again they are right too. The plant does know what to do and nature will survive so everyone is right. The logic behind rooting the seeds between moist paper towels until the taproots are 1 ?? 2 inches long then planting them with the taproot down 1? below ground level

    Peace all.......every one is right on this one.

    To strive to grow the most stress free plant is everyone??s goal. A stress free environment is the perfect condition for this plant to grow in. So why not start out the seedling with the most stress free conditions and put the taproot down. Give it some quality light, watch the temperature, humidity and plenty of fresh air is a good stress free environment....right?

    Throw in some nutrients, time?..lots of patience and you get quality and quantity to enjoy.

    Give a seed a chance?.will ya? haha
