How much, is too much?
I change my reservoir every week with 15 gallons of distilled water and add these solutions:
65 ml of CAL-MAX (like Calmag)
170 ml of DNF GOLD (additive, increases nutrient absorbtion and flower sites)
285 ml each of DNF Bloom A & B
9.5 grams of DNF Bloom Fortifier (Additive)
17.9 grams of DNF Carbologic (additive, carbohydrates)
142.5 ml of Cannazym (additive, helps break down old/dead roots)
The CAL-MAX I'm using at just about half strength and find no need to increase it.
Now, should I add anything more during the week other than water?
Thanks.immortal420 Reviewed by immortal420 on . How much, is too much? You sound like you got it down. I wouldn't add anything else. I would save a bit by not changing rez untill I topped up with 15 gallons of water or 2 weeks whitch ever comes first. I might go up on cal-max if I see any signs of defisncies.
You need to measure your nute PPM's first to bring to the strenth you want and then add additives.
Only thing else you need to add is love.

Well the CAL-MAX I put in that ammount because I have to get from 0 ppm to 210 ppm (EC 300) which is what my nutes are optimized for.
Last night I actually re-added nutes and CAL-MAX for the first time because my ppm reading went down since I changed the tank.
I figured my plants would eat more nutes because I didn't add all the additives, just 60 ml of CAL-MAX, 28 ml of H202 35%, and 280 ml each of Bloom A & B.
Do I keep the ppm the same as when I first add nutes at tank change-over? Should I re-add CAL-MAX during the week; and how much?
Thanks again.

When you first change and you have an over all PPM. Your plants drink nutes and mostly water, the ppm will go up and then you top off with water and your ppm's will come back to very close to what you started with. Only top off with water. Then PH to 5.8 or close. Don't add anything more. If there is a slight change it's the plants eating nutes and giving off waste, so you really don't know what they ate so adding back is a guess. You might add too much of something and screw up the mix.

exactly right, the biggest mistake most newbees including my self
make is adding nuits to the makeup water.
the thread at the top of the hydro page has a lot of good info, not just for the Lucas formula

Over the years I have learned about KISS (keep it simple stupid), because the more variables there are,IF, there is a problem where do you start to look?the more chems the
closer you have to stay on top of the system. I would rather :rastasmoke:
So I use GH 3 part with as few a additives as I can.
Diamond necter, sweet, florisus plus. and I have problems still.

ok so once again I read that peeps top off with plain water during the week. Since day 1 I have been alternating top off between plain and nuted water and have not had any problems that I can tell (guees my luck showing again). This latest go round which is on week 2 of veg I am trying Latewoods GH3part legacy minus the calmag and ro water. from what I can tell I should be able to reduce the number of plants by 2 and still end up with about the same yeild but with fewer plants.
If you have something productive to say by all means speak up, if not then please close the hole under your nose.
