I don't know the truth to MDMA coming from Catnip, but it seems unlikely. And MDMA is nothing like mescaline to my knowledge.

Catnip will likely just make you drowsy when smoked in quantity. And it won't be near as nice of a taste as some good bud.

I've left the catnip for the cats, but I can tell you that MDMA can be synthesized from Safrole which is found in the sassafras and camphor trees and in smaller concentrations in nutmeg.
MDMA and Mescaline are related, maybe not closely but as far as I know they are both phenethylamines.

MDMA is an amphetamine, which has an extra carbon compared to a PEA like Mescaline. But to answer the question, leave the catnip to your cat, definately.

    what nullific said.

Also, I've heard that if you mix catnip and tobacco in a cig, its supposed to give you a lite, short lived cannabis-like buzz for about a half hour at the most.
