So I Just Read The Proposed New Jersey MM Law...

i just banged through all 12 pages of senate bill 804, and although it is not as good as Cali's prop 215(who's is?) it's still a VERY generous Medical Marijuana law, and that's amazing seeing as it is our legislators that are the ones who are enacting it, not a voter referendum.

    bullet points:

~6 plant limit, no specification on "mature" or "immature" plants, and no specification on where you must grow it, so i think you could grow outside.

~specific serious illnesses like MS and AIDS are listed, but it is left open with the clause "any medical condition that causes severe or chronic pain".

~no waiting term to qualify as a "genuine physician/patient relationship", you could meet your doctor 5 minutes before he writes your recommendation.

~it only refers to the "transfer" of marijuana, it does not specify if a caregiver can accept compensation for growing a patients weed, so i am amusing one can.

~ only one ounce of usable marijuana, that really low but it will get changed once the law has been on the books for a year or two.

~ it does not allow dispensaries BUT...

~ it sets no limit on the amount of patients a caregiver can have. it leaves open the possibility of having medical collectives....

which brings me to my question; now that the feds aren't raiding pot providers i am VERY VERY VERY interested in positioning myself to be one of these medical cooperative operators once the law is enacted, i know the Coalition for Medical Marijuana - New Jersey is the most active reform group in the state, and on Monday i am going to contact them, but i was wondering if anyone knows what i should be doing, or if anyone is interested in forming the collective with me.

seeing as how only a few days later eric holder said the DEA would finally stop raiding pot clubs i am almost certain this will pass the state assembly within a year.

anyone who will need a care giver after the law is passed or anyone who is interested in forming a collective please PM me. I want to get this thing off the ground the very second it becomes law.

Corzine said he'd sign it just as soon as he got it. Then watch the exodus across the Ben Franklin. Fast Eddie's asleep at the wheel.
