    WHATS HAPPENING {yellow not mellow]

This is whats been happening after transplanting my 3-3inch babies into large 10 inch pots. I used store bought potting soil only, added nothing to it and have not used any fert's. I only water when the soil feels dry [ use the finger method ], have 4 flor's 48 inches long 40 watts each hanging 2 inches or less above the plant tops. The older bottom leaves are yellowing and dropping off as the plants grow. I'v been having the lights on 24 hours a day. They are making progress but I'm afraid what looks good on top today may be laying on the bottom of the pot tomorrow.

I've read that this condtion could be caused because of a lack of phosphorous or under developed root system. I dont want to make any moves without good advice first. One last thing shouldent the soil have all the nutrients the plants need ? Its only been 8 or 9 days since the transplant.

Let me pre thank all those who comment.

Feed them some nutrients. Be careful and follow the instructions that come with the nutrient product(s) you use. Use to much nutrient and they will burn.

it seems like the buckets u put the little girls in are too big. u should start of small, and gradually get bigger, not go from small to big, if u gradually transfer from small to big pots, ur plants will have stronger and healthier roots! Ur initially suppost to trim the bottom 1/3 of ur plant, and any dead or dying leaves! if ur leaves are crispy, u need to give those plants of shot of pure Nitrogen, itll take care of em in a matter of days. u also need to feed em liquid nutrients to ensure their healthiness!

Thanks for your reply, can you give me names of products that have pure nitrogen and product names of liquid nutrients. I'd sure appreciate it,because i'd like to attend to this problem as soon as possible. But i need a no-brainer guide, you see i'm blind in this area and need to be taken by the hand.

    THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

i know schultz makes a liquid plant food mix. they have alot of different types. i use a 10-15-10 mix. they have flowering mixes and the like. check out a nursery and talk to them about your "tomato plant" or whatever ruse you would like. they should know what to do.

dont worry about the yellow leaves there just water leaves and they are what hold nutes for plant when they fall off it means time to fert but be carefull only go quarter amount that recommended. Keep on token.
