    A decent soil on sale

For you soil-growers I thought I'd share a deal that I found the other day at Home Depot. I am in the US, so I don't have any idea if our brothers to the north get the same discount. It appears to be discontinued, so the price holds out until they're all gone.

It's a Scott's Miracle Grow product, so get your laughing done now. I have found this "Organics Choice Potting Mix" product marked down to $4 for a 16 qt bag. Their regular price is somewhere between $6.57 and $14. I'm not sure which. Some stores have this bag marked at $14 and change, and some have a sign that says regular price $6.57. I have found it on the internet at various sites, and the prices vary A LOT for this 16 qt bag. The UPC is 0-71645-29866-4 . No matter what the price tag says, if this is the UPC, Home Depot rings up at $4.00.

As far as the product, I've been using it for a while now. This is my second grow with it, and it is an adequate product. When I first opened it, it kinda reminded me of one of the Foxfarms products. Yeah, I'm sure I'm way off, but had the light consistency of those others. It is a light and airy mix with some sphagnum moss, some clay/humous stuff, and a few things that look like small wood chips (but very few). I have found it to be a good base to start with. I add perlite and vermiculite and some other stuff to cut it.

There doesn't seem to be enough of the Miracle Grow stuff in it to hurt anything. I take it really easy on the nutes for quite a while into my grow, and everything has been fine. I've read online that some people have complained that they found bugs in their bags. You know? I might have had a few more gnats in my rooms since using this stuff, but it isn't an issue for me. I can deal with gnats. I would rather have a few bugs and know that they don't chemical bomb their sh1t before shipping. Plus, I get gnats no matter what I do after I add molasses anyway.

I have been happy with this stuff, especially for the price. Not all Home Depot stores have any of the stuff left, and I've cleared out all of my local stores. But I've found most stores still have SOME of this stuff if you go looking.
