I remember when I lived in Christchurch in the 1970s.

Deep Purple was allowed to do a live concert but not John Denver!

John had publically admitted to and proclaimed to smoke weed.

Therefore, the Commonwealth of New Zealand told John Denver he could not land there.

Never mind the members of Deep Purple did lsd, mushrooms and coke.

And John Denver was pretty much a nerdy sort so far as what was cool not not.
We all liked John, just kept it to ourselves mostly.

I miss New Zealand.
