Getting busted from this site

What we're starting to see more of these days are private contractors working for the feds who participate in intelligence gathering.

They participate in front sites as well as legit sites in order to gather incriminating information against individuals, groups, and organizations. When they have collected what they believe to be actionable evidence of criminal activity they forward the information up the chain which is then oftentimes disseminated to the appropriate agency for action. (Department of Homeland Security hard at work).

Simply stated, be careful as to what you do and say on the internet. On the other hand, don't run off all paranoid either.

A man in England is arrested after police see footage of his grow-op on the Internet
A cannabis grower let police in on his secret hobby after posting home videos of the crop on YouTube, it has emerged.

The 25-year-old was arrested after officers saw footage on the website documenting the stages of growth at his home in Bridgwater, Somerset.

The man made his arrest even easier after using his real name as his "internet handle".

Police searched the house and seized one large cannabis plant and associated hydroponics equipment used to maximise heat and light conditions.

PC Adrian Peck, of Avon and Somerset police, said: "The male had been videoing the growth of the plant over a number of months and uploading his horticultural endeavours onto the site to document it - providing us with fairly conclusive evidence.

"The cultivation of cannabis is illegal. If you break the law and are foolish enough to then advertise your criminal activities on the internet, it makes it very easy for the Police to catch you."

Police said the cannabis produced by the single plant could have had a potential street value of up to £500; both the plant and growing equipment will be destroyed.

The man admitted the offence of cultivating cannabis, now a Class B drug, and received an official police warning.
The force said it was not its policy to release the names of people who are warned and confirmed that the videos have been removed from the site.

There is a TON of legitimate material out there on the topic.

The first one I ever actually had anything to do with was Western States Intelligence Network back in the early eighties. Man were they a joke. The industry had proliferated big time since then though. And some have gotten A LOT more savvy.

Many other seasoned and intelligent members made an effort to bring some comfort to this, since all but the stupid should have no worries. Who is to say what "story" is true, a past endevour or legal where one resides.
Then you chime in, and the way you gave the info in relation to "Intell gathering contractors", it gave off the same smell. By simply posting the link you recited that from like I kindly asked, you may have given the impression you only meant to say "hey, I found this info to show why to be really careful". Instead, you evade the question. Clearly there was no broad area in your post, there are no grade school kids here requiring a lesson from you on the definition of "Intel Gathering"...thus making it a singular topic. Dude, maybe you're sniffing too hard. I willingly admit what I do for a living and my past experience in law enforcement. I think it helps our cause. And heck yeah I read the whole thread. Chill out. Why so hostile? Frankly, I still maintain that my response was appropriate and on topic.

As far as my having asked you as to what you were specifically requesting from me, hell, I wasnâ??t sure if you were referring to specific techniques with which LEO gathers intelligence, how that info is channeled through the involved agencies and companies, specifically which sites or segment of the population were more likely to be subjected to such data collection, or whether you were requesting sources which document that the feds actually utilized private sector sources for intelligence gathering.

Several of your posts in this thread come across as rather hostile, my friend (stated in my best John McCain imitation), even before my contribution. Relax, dude. We arenâ??t your enemies. Like you, weâ??re just folks who like to chat it up and spread the good word about our sacred herb.

The bottom line is, be careful what you say on ANY internet forum. On the other hand, no need to pull yer panties up around your waist and run down the block screamin fer mum.

If you are busted for other reasons can they use this forum as evidence of your involvement?

Yes

The fact of the matter this site is dedicated to the medical user. Now not all members are in fact medical users, however, by in large the members of this site are very discrete and seeing as that is the case, i don't believe you have much to worry about.
