    Improving The Joint

I've seen a lot of fancy designs, but I'm wondering about what definite improvements people make to your everday joints? Well, by definite I probably mean minor improvements that may or may not have much of an impact, that that, as per common sense, should have some positive effect on the experience.

One I like is using a very long filter (length -- not height -- of a deck of cards), so it doesn't get too hot when I'm about done with the smoke. The way I make those it's also possible to pull the filter back (creating a space between the weed and the filter) when it gets near the end, so there's really no risk of smoking the filter even when smoking the weed to its end.

Another thing is completely inversing the way the pape is rolled so that your thumbs stick the part with the glue inside, (rather than just the paper end), with the glue facing outwards, so that the "_" in O_ is just unnecessary paper that can be burned away ( the ]in [O]_ is the part with the glue).

Something I'd like to see is something better than the hard paper filter. Long, light, solid, absorbs heat.. that would be good.

Light one up and think of something :rastasmoke:.

When I have time, I use a brand new pencil to roll the joint. I roll the paper around it first so it's perfectly cylindrical, put a filter in one end and then stuff the weed into the other end with a key or something like that. It always makes a perfect joint, takes like 10-15 minutes though.

I've always thought of using cigarette filters inside of joints. Would that work?

Pizza box cardboard makes excellent filters. And yes, the back roll is awesome.

Yes, cigarette filters can be used for joints. Some people might complain about "excessive loss" of THC, but it's all preferences. Headshops and smokeshops should sell bags of cig filters, ready to be rolled. You can also order cigarette blanks online and then put whatever you want into a legit cig.

I never tried it. I did travel with some hippy
who was convinced that the filters were dangerous, so if I'd try to light up a cig he'd break it, mix the tobacco with some hash and roll a joint :hippy:. I didn't bother arguing with him.

To return to your point: usually a filter is just there so that you have something on your lips that isn't burning weed. I've seen Europeans use tobacco (hand-roll type) for the filter. Some don't even bother with a filter and just throw it away near the end.

The issue with a cigarette filter is tha, though it may filter out some bad stuff, it may also filter out some of the good stuff and it will probably affect the taste. I have no clue how the filters actually work, so I can't say much on this.

Personally I feel that filters are a waste of time. If you are just trying to get the shape use some roaches. You cant make smoking less harmful to your body

Yeah dude, don't get me wrong I don't think cardboard is going to filter out the tar. I'm not completely retarded. I guess I use the term "filter" loosely. I just mean a little piece of cardboard or thick paper rolled up so you have something to hold onto. That way your fingers and lips don't get burned. Sorry for the confusion.

one way is to roll it really really fat, and make it an extendo, and use a lot of weed. that is a good way to improve a joint.

Its hard to perfect a single zig zag white paper joint. You can roll from a pin joint to a fatty and its less paper to burn or inhale. But, some people need to use EZ-Widers and JOB and such!!!

    Improving The Joint

Im getting good at rolling those flaming back flip joints I got it down to about 3 minutes after the mix is nice and chopped. I use a filter or paper filter and a organic rice paper. they burn perfect every time, I alwyas have to pack the J a little though Im getting better at that so it does not need any extra steps just cut roll smoke. I also have stopped using the grinders and just started using good sizzers or choppers makes a better mix especialy for rolling. When I use a grinder everthing gets supper sticky and messy. I dont belive in taking 4 hours to roll a Jay unless its gonna last at lesat an hour, with alot of people, but I do belive in a good smoke no runners and no roach. So what I have started to do and works well is at the place where the herb and filter meet I will but a thin extra peice of rolling paperaround the jay whe the filer meets. Not on top of the filter but on top of the mix, on the already roller J. This way their is an extra layer of paper right before it gets to the filter alowing the entire mix to get smoked before the last bit of paper close to the tip. This stops that last hit to fall off in a cherry ball of smoke. If your filter rolling skill is tight, you can hit it right up to the very end and all that is left is ash. Alot of people havegiven lots of props or praise to these Jays, and I have taught alot of people to rollem, but at first it does take while to get in the habbit of rlling insideout. But when you do their usualy perfect, no runs and smokes to the last bit, joint rolling is fun especialy when you pop out a joint like this in about 2-3 minutes. If I could do it quicker I would do that joint rolling thing at the Cup they have, because I have seen the winners joints they are good but the most impressive thing is how fast he rolles em, not how they smoke, not that they dont smoke well, but the one he rolled for me a year or 2 ago ran...allot. He rolls em in like 3 seconds, and can litteraly have a box of cigarets filled with Jays in about a minute.
