Question about a grow system
Hey all. I'm completely new to growing but im looking to setup my own system in my closet and try and keep it discreet.
Originally I was looking at different grow boxes but from what I've read on the forum, most people say to setup your own system.
I'm gonna be honest in saying that I'm pretty lazy and I want a good easy system to use that isn't insanely priced.
I found this system on ebay.

Question about a grow system
That's a lot of gear for under $400...
...but, like ToPHeR31...said...the heat build up in the closet is the MAIN problem for closet growers. You will need a ventilation system; capable of removing hot stale air and adding cool fresh air. That's not easy in Texas, with spring/summer approaching. You will need to maintain temps in the 70-85 degree range, during the whole grow, which takes about 4 months. Most growers, use A/C to control temps.
Some of the stuff, in the package, I wouldn't recommend for a first time grower: unless you have studied for it.......

Question about a grow system
Ok, change in plans. I think I'm going to go Hydro with this system instead...
400 watt HPS/MH GROW TENT CABINET LIGHT 400w hydroponic - eBay (item 180159720185 end time Mar-07-09 12:53:12 PST)
The same still applies though right? I will still need to make adjustments to the hood and make sure the room is at the right temperature right?
I do have AC in the room and I think I will be able to maintain the temperature but I'm wondering about the ventilation issue you were referring to pimp.
Will this fan that is included be enough or will I need more fans?
I'll do some research about the Coco Coir-Grow bags.
Sorry if im annoying with these newb questions. I just want to get it right or close to right the first time around.

Question about a grow system
A tent?...inside a closet?...or just out in a room?
Tents are just as tricky to ventilate, as closets....but yes...the temps must be maintained and the ventilation, too. The main problem with tents...is the low heights. Once you hang the lights...there not enough room for the plants to grow up...unless you plan for it...way, way in advance. (SCROG) (LST)..etc.
hydro growing is even more tricky...than coco coir...IMO.
If it was me?....I'd buy a 250/400 watt...ballast, bulb and reflector package online or somewhere local....and do my first grow in soil. After you learn the basics of growing...then, you can go hogwild, later....

Question about a grow system
HEY MAN NO! NO!
That fucking tent is not light tight, if you are using it in a room, the room needs to be 100% light tight period. If you are counting on that tent to be light tight, you are up shit creek no paddle.
They are convenient to set up a highly reflective area and trap and use light, they also have a floor liner that is nice. So they can be highly useful, but you gotta know what the real expectation of the tent are, and this specific brand, I know for a fact it is not fucking light tight at all.
The last thing you want to do is invest a whole load of time and energy to end up with your plants all fucking themselves in the end you know what I mean? No one wants to see that.
You should really carefully consider everything before you start, and the best advice here was to work out your ventilation issues ahead of time. It should be a very high priority, because if you can't bring in fresh air, get the hot air out, then it won't matter if you get elephant shit shipped in from NanuNanu, it won't work well for you. Better off take the advice of Dutch and whoever the fuck that other guy is. If you are lazy, and kinda just take it lightly and don't do it the right way, it will BE BAD.
As for the coco and shit.
I am telling you, Dutch said it true, don't try to throw a curve ball, try to throw the fastball for a strike first, then after you can do that with your eyes closed, start working on the curveball ya digg?
It may be difficult to achieve desireable results from this adventure, if you are lazy, I dunno, maybe not though. I don't want to discourage you, but at the same time, just a heads up. Growing requires some self discipline and self motivation to say the least. Maybe you can lead the way for all lazy people looking for a lazy way to grow? I am pretty lazy too, but not with growing.
Motherfucker.
Eh he he, just kidding, please it's a term of endearment I promise,
motherfucker.
Ha Ha ha LOL, really..
just giving you shit, good luck, and I will try to help you use laziness to give rise to new ingenious ways of getting by growing.
Happy Valentines Day..
Late
Motherfucker! LOL
Just kidding, seriousely, work that ventilation out, and how you would best use a tent, if you need one. Best to get this all figured out now, jumping in the pool and learning to swim is fucking stressful!

Question about a grow system
Ok well first of all let me say that I am lazy BUT if what I grow comes out shitty then it's not worth it.
I've heard that hydro is a better way to go for faster growing, that's the main reason I'm interested in this system but I've never grown a flower, much less bud.
If I was to get this tent, it will be in the closet. Either that or I will just set up whatever system I use in the closet so light leaking will not be an issue.

Question about a grow system
That one would be..ok...I use this one...Grow Light Systems > 400 Watt High Pressure Sodium Grow Lights
You don't really need a switchable system. Use floro lights the first 3 weeks and switch to HPS light.
Still...again...keeping the temps below 85 degrees is the main problem. A 400 watt light will drive the temps over 95 degrees in an unventilated closet. (That's why I only grow in the fall/winter) I use a dark closet inside a DARK room. That way, I don't have to close the closet doors...but I can in case of any emergency.
Yes...once the cooling is taken care of...potting soil mix, perlite and some common nutes is about all you need. Again...the 250 watt light might be better, if you only want 2-3 female flowering plants. IMO.
Choose wisely...Grasshopper....

Question about a grow system
^^^
Listen to this man, he is wise. He will not lead you wrong.
Oh, and please, I was pretty baked the other day, please take the "motherfuckers" in the Samuel L. Jackson way, you know,
"I am a Hiroshima Bomb layin' motherfucker, motherfucker!"
Even in a tent, 1 400 watter, (I have a 8ft tall by 4 ft by 4ft) and temps got up there in a hurry. That was just with the basic reflector though, since I have switched them out for air cooled hoods, much much more controllable.
