I think you should consider enviromental issues here first, like light intrustion.
AS to only one turning and not all, well if one turned first, there is no reason for the others too, they got thier needs fullfilled by the first one. (unless you have other reasons to think you had bad genetics)

Sorry, but I can't see how your "filters" are light tight. I tried 6 layers of black hose, held it up to a 100w incandescent and you could see pin-points of light all over.

On a brighter note, you've got some great results from a small, inexpensive grow box, and I'm impressed. Maybe just a little work on air in and air out and you could avoid the hermie issue.
