    Repotting During Flower??

    Hey All,

Curious, do any of you soil (or soil less mix) repot your plants during flower? I've been trying to avoid this and do all my repotting during veg. I'm currently finishing in #2 or #3 pots (I think about 2 and 3 gallon respectively). My plants are staying pretty healthy, but I'm definitely curious on this one. I do have one White Diesel that was really trying to grow roots out of the pot. This was about a week after moving it from a #2 to a #3. It doesn't look at all like it's suffering..

    Repotting During Flower??

    I wouldnt worry about it,

Pot plants roots shoot down first, then spread out once they have hit bottom.

You got nothing 2 worry about.

That's what I'm thinkin' too.. When I pull the root ball after chopping, the root system always looks pretty healthy. My general rule has been not to screw with them once in flower with the exception of regular cultivation of the soil at the top of the containers and staking when I have to if they can't handle the weight of the buds.

I think compared to others I don't grow in very large containers either. Just recently I've started to move up to #3 from a #2 for an experiment. With Kush in #2 containers I generally get 2.5 oz trimmed bud from each plant under a 1000 watt HPS. Based on .5g per watt, I should be getting about 500g per cycle and if you consider the amount of trash (trim and lower buds), I'm close. We'll see if there's a significant change going up one container size..

I'd still like to hear if anyone is repotting during flower and why you did?

    Peace, Farmer Rich

    Repotting During Flower??

Yeah I did it in week 3 of flowering with my Trainwreck, which was supposed to hermie anyways... Turned out there was no trouble at all. The reason I did it was that it was in a 10L bucket, and the roots were really bunched up when I checked it. I put it into a 23L container...way too big, but at least big enough to finish the grow with. This time I'm gonna use 15L, and see how that works out, but I'll try to transplant them before I switch the lights this time.

Some re-pot at week two of flower. I use an organic soil that's pretty hot, and re-pot within a week of going 12/12. Gives the plants a fresh shot of ph balanced soil, fresh organics and more footroom for the impending growth. I also give it a dose of Soil Syrup (humic acid) when transplanting. The roots love it.

I also stopped adding rocks to the bottoms of the pots, so I don't have to pick them out when transplanting. (I line the drip trays with the rocks now...works great, but you have to pay atention when watering.)

Hey since you are here, lemme ask you this.
I have been using pieces of window screen in the bottom of all may pots, on top of the rocks, so that it is very easy when I repot to get all my rocks back. I haven't really had any issues, but the thought occurred that I am just wasting space in the bottom of my pots.

I thought about going rockless, but wonder about drainage and losing soil through the holes in my pots. (I got lots of'em, on the bottom, and up the sides, my shit drains very well.

So do you loose any soil without the rocks, does it get all over? Maybe you just feed more lightly, I usually get about a twenty percent runoff each watering.
    What say you?

I'va almost always watered about a quart of fresh water per 3 gallons of soil, wait a few minutes, then feed to slight trickle of run-off. A couple of cups total. Works good with my schedule and nutes. I use Fox Farms, which is known for it's salt build-up, so I do monthly mini-flushes anyway. (followed by a dose of humic acid to the soil)

I pack the soil in the bottom 1/2 inch or so. A little escapes over time, but not a big deal. A tablespoon total, if that. Was using duct-tape to cover the holes in the sides of my 5 gallon buckets, but it's unnecessary. The roots hold the soil in, soon enough. Been doing it for IDK...6 months or so?

I was using that shade cloth (without interior rocks, to keep the soil in) for quite a while. But roots grow thru it, and I hated having to rip 'em off for transplanting. Tried leaving the shade cloth intact for transplant, but she runted-out. (smallest plant in the room)

Depends on the size of the holes, and the chunky-ness of the soil, too.

    Repotting During Flower??

I'm use soil less mix with no rocks at all.. No issues around water retention or medium falling out.. From a general standpoint, I use about 2 qts per plant (#2 pot ~ 1 1/2 gallons medium) in the flower room about every 2 1/2 days, give or take depending on strain, etc., and a little more with the larger containers. I've also started leaching (right term?) the plants around week 4 or 5 in flower with a nute solution of about 400 ppm.

I have one plant now that was trying to grow out of the bottom of the pot. My hydro buddy was worried, but they just stopped once they got a bit dry in the light. Plant stayed perfectly healthy..

    Repotting During Flower??

Yeah...I've had the roots peeking out too. Tried pot-stacking with a lady in a 7 gallon pot. Had to end it early because the damn thing was two feet taller than any other plant. (messed-up my nice, even canopy, lol)

    Repotting During Flower??

Hey Rusty or anyone else that uses FFOF,
Does it contain a bit of nitrogen? Could it be an issue transplanting too late in flower, (the fresh soil w/ nitrogen)? Or is this really a non-issue? Just wondering, I know that for seedlings it is kind of hot, don't know how much N it has though. Could it be too much N, or would it probably be used up by the end, and not have an effect? I have read that you want to limit N in flower, but shit, I have some in my PBP, and CAlMag, and FFOF. Do I need to consider somehow limiting the N?
Never mind, I don't know what the fuck I am trying to ask here.:wtf:
