Unbelievable! I guess the lesson if this is either don't take pictures of your face with weed/paraphernalia or don't let random people photo you using illegal substances. This is still outrageous though!

Yes, considering that Phelps has already officially apologized it's a known fact. But what I'd like to know is this, would they have been able to go after the individuals if Phelps hadn't owned up to smoking weed. Usually a photo isn't enough to press charges, especially if it's on a college campus.

At least the latest arrest is due to shear stupidity - selling a used bong on ebay, let alone a high profile bong is just stupid. Phelps Bong Worth $100,000?

This sherrif is pulling a grandstanding stunt for his own publicity, and I hope it severely bites him in the ass. Sometimes an idiot looking for the spotlight will bring TOO MUCH attention on himself, and once he is under the microsope too, some shit will come out on him. Not sure that will happen in this case, but I hope so.

And then the other side of this story is that the people Phelps parties with are a bunch of fucking morons.

Whoever sold the initial photo is a backstabbing piece of shit, and I hope he is shunned for life by everyone he knows.

The guy selling the bong is an idiot --- he KNEW this was turning into a big legal hairball, and he still thought it was a good idea to put the bong on e-bay? And he really thought he would get $100,000 for it?

And then the people who all got popped for posession and dealing are fools too! The sherrif has been saying for days he plans to pursue the case, and there they are a week later still sitting on a bunch of weed when he finally shows up at the door? Now that is just assinine.

Phelps is going to lose money over this, but he might not end up in much legal trouble, really. That picure is pretty flimsey evidence. But the rest of these boobs are facing solid cases if anyone really wants to pursue it.

Other then the sheriff having no proof? There's a picture with Michael Phelps holding a bong. After rereading his apology, he never out and out said he smoked pot, just that he regretted his behavior. Now the headline grabbing sheriff gets a chance to make the news again, by arresting college students associated with a picture. I do hope that *most* of these kids get a good lawyer who will have this case thrown out. The guy who took the pic, and the one who tried to sell the bong can rot as far as I'm concerned.
