I studied in Alkmaar, the Netherlands, for 6 months last year. Its about 40 minutes from Amsterdam by train. The school I went to was Hogeschool InHolland at Alkmaar, but I know the school has a few different locations, one in Amsterdam.

Here in Europe, we have this exchange program called Erasmus, and in this program, schools have to sign up for it. So, if I want to go to Amsterdam, my school would have to be in agreement with that school. It didnt, so I went to Alkmaar and liked it more than Amsterdam.

Amsterdam has a few different schools that take a lot of exchange students, I just don't know their names, sorry!

My recommendation would be not to get so set on Amsterdam. There are other cities which have plenty of good coffeeshops and much less tourists: Groningen, Alkmaar, Utrecht... And you won't be that far away from Amsterdam no matter where in the Netherlands you go.

Hmmm good point. Thanks for the info. I just wish I had names of U.S. colleges that offer something similar.
