Dear President Barrack Obama

my plea,
plz keep your word and allow us our medicine under strict guidelines and stop the DEA from subverting state laws , we do need strict guidelines & control , as medical marijuana in California is out of control and mostly criminals have taken over dispensaries and patients do not have safe affordable access too medicine. I myself have not had safe affordable access in two years. I have all but given up on MMJ,as a result I will be stuck on Oxycontin the rest of my life. I had Hope that I could get on MMJ and off of the Oxycontin, but I have since lost my Hope that can happen in the USA. I pray that you are able to reinstall that Hope and fix our great nation.I believe the wamm co-op in Santa Cruz was a excellent model of what a MMJ co-op should be. Where is the accountability on California Law Enforcement Officers and District Attorneys to uphold California state law prop 215. It is a crime to interfere with a state law,these have been criminal acts by the very people assigned too enforce the law. Please hold them responsible & accountable for their actions against the people. I will say many prayers for you as you will need them on your journey of fixing this once great nation. I started this with the hope that each member here on cannacom would write a letter to the President and post it here, I hope that with enough posts/letters that he will have to look at it. so plz go ahead and post a letter to Barrack Obama our fearless leader :thumbsup:

I feel ya brother..every word! No disp in my state and I refuse to deal or be delt so only leaves one choice of relief. I fear becoming an opiate addict more than jail, how fucking sad is that? I've seen it b4 and its UGLY, no way in hell I go through my whole life never trying a drug to end up a pill head on the most addictive of them all. I won't even fill the scripts anymore so I wont break when my weed runs out and the pain gets too bad. The Govt is happy to make as much oxy avail to us that we want though. Sometimes you get tired of writing letters especially when you can't seem to focus on anything but nearly unbearable pain and trying to keep meds growing under the radar to help. I've resorted to re-submitting the same lengthy book I already wrote, as you said...as many times as it takes. "Finally Legalized" party at my house....RSVP by........????

veggii, it can be very discouraging to see so many cannabis users not get involved. Do not let it stop you. Keep up the great work.

There are many reasons why potheads do not get involved:
1)Fear of arrest
2)Fear of social stigmas associated with use
3)TOO STONED TO MOVE
and there are more reasons I am sure, selfish and not-so-selfish.

I would like to urge anyone reading this to follow veggii's lead. Call,write,fax, e-mail and go visit with your Representatives. Statistics show that there are over 100 MILLION people in America that have tried cannabis. If all of those people stood up and did something prohibition would end very quickly much like alcohol prohibition did in the early 1900's.

I sent a hand written letter to President Obama soon after he was inaugurated outlining my position on many issues. Cannabis law reform was the major talking point using food, fiber, fuel and medicine as the theme. Along with several other issues of importance to me which are irrelevant to this forum.

Of course I have sent many letters to other government officials as well.

Mr. President...This is, in a roundabout way...about hope...or lack of it.

Smoking cannabis allows me to follow my doctors' recommendations, which were given by her, with her full knowledge of my condition, it's symptoms and my limited options. I trust the compassion of this licensed oncologist with my health and my life. I only wish you would trust her insight, and not hide the tools she requires to provide myself and others, the best course of treatment that she gave an oath to provide. With all due respect, my doctor is right. Cannabis alleviates my pain, increases my appetite, and allows me to function prescription-free. (and therefore addiction free)

Mr. President...Having established that cannabis works for me...I've learned of growing my own. I had to. After my cannabis supplier was murdered, I was out of options, and was tired of exposing myself to the dangers, and not knowing if the situation would be profitable...or a fruitless waste of effort. Growing cannabis helps me avoid buying it on the streets, from the back-alley kind of people I consider socially unacceptable, dangerous and untrustworthy. I sure wish your spending bill would address this issue, as too many patients are being ripped-off and assaulted by street thugs and opportunists. Could you, like, buy them all homes or something?

Mr. President...Growing cannabis allows me to control the quality of the meds, and keeps me free from industrial/governmental nutrients, pesticides and defoliants. But I'm sure that since the chemicals were likely made in the USA, you consider their use acceptable. The problem is...even residual chemicals can interact with cancer meds, and kill patients under the right circumstances.

Mr. President...Growing cannabis allows me to medicate guilt-free, as I'm not contributing to the profits of gangs, international traffickers, and the mexican cartels. I'm truly sorry that under this arrangement, cannabis is a tax-free commodity, but you could change all this with a mighty swirl from your magic pen set, and get to work leaglizing and taxing the crap out of it.

Mr. President...Growing cannabis allows me to afford the prescription, which I could not afford, even from a dispensary, as they don't take Blue Shield. Will your government-mandated healthcare take any of this into consideration, and add cannabis to my universal prescription drug coverage?

Mr. President...I know this is low on your totem pole of things to do...but there are an awful lot of good people suffering while politics and medical capitalism stands in the way of Hope. Were you so stand-offish when you were doing drugs, or has life on the campaign trail these past few years hardened your heart to those in need, as we don't really add-up to enough voting power to require placation?

I don't want a chicken in every pot...but I do want the freedom to have some pot with every chicken. If you believe that patients need to become felons to alleviate symptoms best controlled by the use of cannabis, then you, Mr. President...you are the anti-hope. :jointsmile:

I'm currently taking a sabbatical due to work-related issues (sadly lack of work), that being said, I find myself much more active politically. I have written both my senators, my congresswoman, the governor of my state, and a few LTE's.

What I've encountered is unfortunately a product of the success of "Cheech and Chong". If you don't have short hair and a suit on, you aren't taken seriously.

The reason I truly believe we have the best shot of ever getting marijuana legalized right now is simply the majority of people in this country have tried pot. Some don't admit to it, others simply tried it and decided they didn't like it, but on a whole, the public now admits that marijuana is benign.

I understand the reluctance a person with an active grow might have in asserting themselves politically, that's why it falls on the shoulders of the "straight" guy to be that much louder.

I think the proudest I've ever been is when I got pulled over for "crossing the center line" (yeah right it's because of my Dead stickers on the car) and was asked to consent to a search. I chose to assert my 4th amendment right, knowing there was nothing in the car. The dog came and nothing was found go figure. The cops asked me why when I had a clean vehicle, BECAUSE ITS OUR RIGHT TO NOT BE SEARCHED.

The efforts of the suits is what will really make our efforts come to fruition or I guess I should say make our efforts flower. With that in mind ask yourself, what have you done to help the cause.

Just one addendum, anyone who reads this, please consider helping out one of the great organizations that are trying to end the War on (Some) Drugs. Norml, MPP, MAPS, SSDP, DPN, these are all great organizations and they deserve our support.
