You failed to mention it (corn flakes) was developed and first offered to folks vontarily trying to lose weight, on a fat farm. Every fat farm had the latest fad in diet and exercize. They (the visitors) liked the cereal enough to drive Kellog (I forget which brother) to market it. Back then, the science wasn't nearly as advanced as today, and regardless...they believed what they came up with would help folks lose weight, not sustain nutrition.

I love the cereals, and eat them daily.

Holy crap. Sheriff Lott is certifiable.

Lott says the picture indicated a law was being broken in his jurisdiction. He said he couldn't ignore the violation just because Phelps is rich and famous.

We've now learned that since investigators began trying to build a case, they've made eight arrests: seven for drug possession and one for distribution. These are arrests that resulted as the sheriff's department served search warrants.

We've also learned that the department has located and confiscated that bong.

Phelps Swimming Suspension

Michael Phelps has been suspended by USA Swimming for three months over that picture of him smoking pot from a bong.

â??This is not a situation where any anti-doping rule was violated, but we decided to send a strong message to Michael because he disappointed so may people, particularly the hundreds of thousands of USA Swimming member kids who look up to him as a role model and a hero,â?� USA Swimming said in a statement Thursday.

The organization has also cut off financial support to 23-year-old for the duration of his suspension.

Word is Phelps will not fight the suspension, which he says is â??Fair.â??

Swimming is a harsh sport; you utilize every muscle system in the body. I mean, this isn't put-put, ya know?

If Phelps is toking and doing as well as he has, and probably will continue to do, then hopefully some uneducated eyes will open up to the fact that just because a person indulges in some ganja doesn't mean that they're a stereotypical slacker. It is perfectly feasible for one to enjoy MJ and still function in society, excel, even.

The owner if the bong wasn't even at the party, but it showed-up on eBay for a starting price of $100,000.00. I guess the sheriff was the winning bidder, lol. It likely pissed-off the sheriff seeing evidence being disposed-of, which I'll bet triggered the arrests.
Doubtful the sheriff has done anything but his job, and likely there's a reason those involved were busted. If the sheriff has overstepped his authority, the court will remedy the error.

If you play the game, better be ready to pay the price. End of story. Don't like the rules, or those that enforce 'em...? Then, get to work and change those rules. The sheriff didn't photoshop the pictures. He has not tried to frame Phelps and friends. But you expect a law enforcement official to turn a blind eye under such close national press scrutiny? Likely that was the guiding force behind the arrests. Plus, video and photographic evidence is permissible and will likely be used at the hearings, if they even go that far.

What part of personal responsibility do y'all not understand? Is this where society is headed...? "it's just not fair"... "it's not my fault"..."everyone else is doing it"..."poor me"..."but it's only a little illegal..." ..."it's a bad law, so I won't respect it" are not valid reasons for any argument on this subject, and doubtful it would cary much weight with the judge. Of course it's his celebrity that got this going. Were it you or me, the media wouldn't have made such a big friggin deal about it for days/weeks. You never would have seen us on the cover pages of magazines and papers, or be the opening stories on the network news programs disecting our infamous bonghit. But we don't have an olympic athlete's image on the line, either.

What's the sheriff going to do, avoid doing his job? Show the watchful nation that in his state, his officers occationally look the other way if they don't agree with the law? I know it's not like Phelps was photographed slapping a hooker. Regardless...the cops don't make the law, but they have been sworn to uphold it. (especially when the cameras are rolling) In the face of the media frenzy, I'd have been surprised if they didn't send the message that this is inappropriate public behavior. If you do something stupid in public, it's only fair you get a "I'm a stupid-person" penalty. Likely they'll get a suspended sentence or a small fine, same as everyone else.
