    cooling the cooltube

I currently have a 19" cooltube with 6" duct work cooling and it works very well. My question is in my 2nd cabinet I have a 2nd 400w light and plan on putting a cooltube in place of the non-cooled reflector thats in there, can I put reducers on the cooltube to take it down to 4" as I already have 4" fans installed and wanted to know if that would be enough to cool it or does it have to be 6"?

    cooling the cooltube

    hi Tiny,

I run one of each......a one kw with 6 inch ducting and 440 infline fan.
Second one....cool tube....one kw....Adjusters from 6 in to 4 inch for your ducting and a 170 cfm inline (4 inch) and it works fine although you CAN tell a difference in that the six inch one you can touch the glass.......the four inch one runs hotter but still well within the range I need to get the light down.

Your 400w should be a breeze with those specs!!!
