Cool Tube lights and heat signature

    Hello,
I don't know much about cool tubes but it sounds like a great concept. I found some for sale on various websites but don't really know how they work. I saw some duct tube attach to one side of the cool tube. I am guessing that it connects to a fan. Does the other side have ducting attached and what is it for?
Also I was interested in the 1000W cool tube light. How serious is the heat signature on something like that?

You'll need six inch ducting and a six inch inline duct fan (mine is a 440 cfm)plus intake and outtake. With cool tube in place and working correctly I can get mine down to within 10 inches and could go more......but too close and it decreases the light's footprint.

What is the heat signature like or how hot is it compared to rooms without cool tubes?

Dont even BOTHER trying to get by without ventilation and an enclosed hood of some kind....cool tube or otherwise. We brushed off our hydro man's advice about cooling and found that 1kw HPS can raise the temp of 12 x 14' room a good 20 degrees F. At one point we had the central air running constantly AND a window ac ALSO running constantly and barely kept the temp under control. A good cool tube and inline fan solved the issue completely.

Great. I wonder why these are not standard for any grow op. I am thinking that having a 1000W light without a cool tube would just create so much heat and not only make it hard to grow but also hard to stay below the radar of the enemy.

Why are you worried about heat sig / I.R det. to begin with ?

Are you planning on doing this up in an attic or something ?

    I run 3 cooltubes in a row w/ 1000 w. HPS ea. , cooled w/ a single 630cfn 6 in. hurricane blower . My 10' x 12' x 6' 720 cu/ft room doesn't get much over 84 -85 degrees in the summer . But my girls are cellar dwellers and that works to my favor in both winter / summer months .

If they're already I/R Deting your house = it's already too late - they're doing it for a reason Be safe , don't tell anyone about it .

Thanks for your info. I have not planted yet. I was planning on using those Procyon 100 lights so I would not have to worry about heat or electricity. But after reading for awhile it seems that this is technology that still needs more refinement. I have to spend some cash to get started so I don't want to risk having a bad crop. With 1000W lights growth is pretty certain. Nice growth actually. I lost my whole business and savings because of the economy. Over $315k is simply gone. Very bad for me and my family. But I know I am not the only one that has been hurt badly by the global meltdown. So I just need certainty in my life. And 1000k lights are very reliable.

I was doing research and watching those cop documentarys on spike TV for free. They have some episodes using those FLIR scanners. I saw one grow op that stood out like a glowing christmas tree. They did a scan of 10 blocks from helicoptor and that house stood way way out. Even in the basement. They were not using cool tubes btw. So I wanted to reduce risk.

So I thought if I can't use LED's then I must do something else. The cool tubes I just found a few days ago. Still don't know too much about them. But I know the 1000W lights are very hot. So I would be afraid to use them without a cool tube. I think the safest method is to use these cool tubes in a basement room that is insulated well and cool.

For electrical use I am thinking of buying a bio/diesel generator that is quiet. I still must research more about brands, power needed, noise level, and where to put such a device. This is a complex art really. Growers really are knowledgable. I have deep respect for the Canadian professionals. They have it down to a science. I think it is a great opportunity for regular people to make money they can live on and also work with nature. I wonder how different the feeling is to ingest cannabis via brownie vs smoking with a vaporizer? I think that eating it is not harmful at all to the body. Like shrooms.

I guess if you take into where someone lives then I guess it makes a lil sense on to worry or not to worry bout heat sigs and such. DC? yup I might be a little nerved up living there hehe.

Well, sorta. Just make sure you understand how FLIR works. It can't see through walls, but if you are venting hot air outside they can definitely see that stream of hot air. If your room has an external wall and your room is hot enough where it heats that external wall, they can see that. But they cannot see the shape of your hot bulb through the wall/roof. Just make sure your shit is cooled properly and you'll have nothing to worry about.

Watch Barry Cooper's "Never Get Raided" video. He explains it all in great detail and even drives through a neighborhood with a FLIR cam and spots a grow house. Cool shit.

Good to be back home. eh Pete?
