Having to switch soils mid-grow, Help!!
Had been using Fafard's Pro Potting Mix. It's time for a re-pot and when I went to the store, they were out with no plans to restock until after the new year. The closest thing I could find was Fafard's Complete Container Mix, which as far as I can tell, the only difference is that the new Contain Mix that I have has an "extended release fertilizer" that is .18 -.06 -.12. I am using the Botanicare line of fertilizers and supplements. How should I alter Botanicare's feeding instructions to compensate for the fertilizer's present in the Fafards?
Please help quickly, they won't last long in these little pots!DasPachy Reviewed by DasPachy on . Having to switch soils mid-grow, Help!! Had been using Fafard's Pro Potting Mix. Having to switch soils mid-grow, Help!!
No matter what soil I use, I flush the new soil well, and let it drain very well, before transplanting. 25% perlite, too.

With an 18% Nitrogen fertilizer you're going to end up with alot of leaves in the bud. I would try to find an alternative potting mix. If that's not possible, cut out any Nitrogen nutes. I'm not familiar with the Botanicare line but I looked it up and there seems to be three different lines with formulations for Hydro and Soil. Let me know which you are running and I'll try to help.

Having to switch soils mid-grow, Help!!
As for Botanicare products, I'm running Sweet (no NPK levels on the bottle), Liquid Karma (.1-.1 -.5), and Bloom (2.5-2-5). I figured I would start all nutrients and supplements at half recommended strength. Any help would be awesome!

Having to switch soils mid-grow, Help!!
I guess I don't understand how to interpret NPK values because it seems to me that the .18-.06-.12 of the Fafard's is not that significant when compared to the Bloom's 2.5-2-5. Can someone clear this up for me?

I'm sorry I didn't notice that it's .18 I thought it was 18, that's a big difference. I think you've got the right idea with starting out at half dose and going up from there, but hopefully someone who has more experience with those nutes will chime in.

Responded well to half str nutes, gonna bump it up to 3/4 next time around. But yeah, I hope someone can give me a better understanding of what's going on.
