Slow Germination help?
I have a fresh pack of Jack that came from the Dam, and they have been in Rapid Rooters (w/ RO water, 4.9 PH & 015 PPM, amount as directed) sitting on a heating pad in a dark place for almost 10 days and none have sprouted. I have checked them for decay and other ills but the seeds appear to be in a healthy state still. I would normally not use anything that has not sprouted in 5 - 7 days (at most) but I am praying for the Jacks to grow.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.:thumbsup:seaflo Reviewed by seaflo on . Slow Germination help? Slow Germination help?
only one......could you repeat that ph number or is that a typo? If you really meant 5.9 then ok........otherwise it sounds like you're doing everything right to me.
You might try kicking your water's ph up to 6.5............but that's strictly a hail mary guess.

Thanks WH; I knew I could count on you to give me some good advice. The 4.9 PH on the RO I stated is correct. I will flush the trays and refill with 5.9 PH RO. How long should I wait till I abandon this effort? Is it possible to reuse the Rapid Rooters from the failed attempts? My regular rule of thumb on reuse is if there is no bad/unusual smell I will use them again. Thanks again for your help.

Slow Germination help?
oh dear.....yes, up your ph asap......Fresh RR's would be a good idea if you can spare them .......have any seeds cracked at all? If not, place them in new rr's and change your ph to 6.0 if you are going to go hydro and 6.5 if you are going to grow them in soil.
RR's contain all those little beneficial mycorr.....??? (Stinky...help....) and things that help resist mold and fungus and a ph of 5 probably killed all those little helpful things off.
Good luck.

Slow Germination help?
That is news I can use. So, to clarify for my thickness, the RRs are not useable now that they have had water of less than 5 PH in them; they should be disposed of? Thanks mate for your help.

Slow Germination help?
If you planted 10 days ago, Dec 6-8, you plopped them down in a BARREN Moon Sign. That may be why they aren't doing anything. We're also in a barren sign right now. Friday afternoon the moon sign starts to get better sign. Sorry.

You are overthinking this.
RO water is not necessary for seedlings, and does not have a pH that means anything.
Switch to tap water, SQUEEZE out your RRs because they don't need more water added than they come with from the factory, and make sure your temps aren't high enough to create mold conditions.
The heating pad may not be necessary; check that you are running about 75-80'F, no more.
