Routing wires
Does anyone have a proper and clean way route wires through a wall as to keep lite and bugs out of a grow room? Unfortunately I'm not looking for a J-Box solution as I don't want to cut or splice any wires. I ask because I want to mount my ballast outside of the grow room due to the huge amounts of heat it gives off, but I need the connector from the light to be intact to properly plug into the ballast.
Thoughts and pictures would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

make your hole for the wiring. run your wires and make sure its just how you wanted. then, apply some expandable insulation around said wires. the link is to give you an idea of what i mean by the insulation.
GREAT STUFF PRO
it comes in just a can with a big straw for application too instead of the big psuedo caulking gun. that setup is cheaper. try home depot/lowe's/menards.

Ahh very nice, very nice GG! I have some of that foam stuff left over from my build. So I'll have see if that'll work for me. I want to show you a picture of some other device I'm thinking of, but can't seem to post images yet. The wall I'm try to route through is kind of thin, so if I go with the foam, I may need to use some pvc in order to give the foam some sturdiness.
Thanks again, I really appreciate your feedback

no prob. the pvc idea is very good. thats why i love these boards: collaboration! one other thing i ponder now is (depending on the wires thickness) maybe some pipe insulation? know what i'm talking about? that should be plenty sturdy and lightproof. it comes in varying sizes, and the best part is that you can use all the leftovers you have (where i come from they sell bagged 3' sections, 5 to a bag) for a bubble cloner!

I'm with ya. Yet another totally cool idea. You're talking about that insulation that is used to wrap pipes with a slit down the center.
Too bad I can't post a pic of my other idea. Let me see if I can explain. Basically take a piece of pipe then slip a condom over the end (I know, weird but the best I can think of). Where the base of the condom fits on the end of the pipe you'd use a hose clamp to secure the rubber, then punch a hole through the reservoir tip for the cable to run through with another hose clamp over the tip to keep a good seal.
I've seen something like this before, maybe on some huge computer. It would be pretty easy to make, but instead of a condom a more sturdy shroud would need to be used...... like a tire innertube!! Just thought of that right now. Who says stoners are not creative. I may have to try that with your idea of the foam for an extra good seal.
This was a totally cool brainstorm, hopefully someone will also benefit from this thread. Now it time to sit back and snap one :smokebong: here's to you GG!
