il post a discription from a page
"Crohn's disease is a severe intestinal disorder typified by sluggish digestion that can lead to total failure of GI reflexes. Intestinal bleeding can occur, and in many cases large sections of the intestines are removed in later stages. While cortisone (a steroid) and other noxious drugs may provide symptomatic relief in short-term therapy, there is no known cure for the disease and there is no pleasant prognosis in long-t erm treatment. Cannabis is found helpful in the management of Crohn's disease, not only as it is known to induce a healthy appetite through the endocannabinoid system, but more importantly, by reducing the swelling of irritated tissues."

In California, no doctor will give out a rec to a minor who is unaccompanied by a parent- and we are "easier" than R.I! You will have to convince a parent at the very least. I can give you a little help in that department- several scientific studies. It's easier to argue a point with a medical study in hand.

I lump the bowel diseases together since there is some doubt where one ends and another begins. Cannabis seems to help them all, so, no problem!

My neighbor has Crohn's. He has had chunks of his intestine removed, is addicted to opiate patches and STILL is in pain. He won't think of trying cannabis!

A couple visits back, and the cute receptionist was talking on the phone to someone who was asking that very question. She said the doctor WOULD give a rec to a minor- but only if the parent was there and signed a form stating s/he agreed with this course of treatment.

That's how it goes with my doc in California. Rhode Island doctors????? No idea!

I know a guy in CA who has had their recommendation since the age of 14. If you have a real medical problem you should have no problem in CA. I don't know about RI. Good luck though.

You could also have Celiac Disease, so it would be best to get checked for that as well, if you haven't already.

There was a study done in Italy a few years ago:

"The researchers conclude that there is a high prevalence of celiac disease in those with Crohns disease, and that all patients who are diagnosed with Crohns disease should begin a gluten-free diet at the time of diagnosis."
