    perlite??

its well worth it to wait, i have had plants die from lack of drainage which leads to no air to the roots

A cheap way to get oxygen to the roots...use a fish aquarium bubbler cost about $10.....basicallly a small compressor that pumps air into the water oxygenating the water. Air Pumps by Hagen - Air Pumps & Accessories - Fish - PetSmart

Or you can use oxygen plus ....add it to your water Oxygen Plus Liquid Plant Food

How big is the current pot? If it's small?...you have to transplant, anyway...add perlite then.

I'd get the perlite and mix it in the soil the next time you transplant. It will do you much better than Oxygen Plus, or adding extra disolved oxygen to H2O.

Every time you water, the suction created within the soil draws-down fresh air (oxygen) making all these oxygenating products unnecessary. The perlite loostens the soil, captures air, and helps prevent your soil from becoming a muddy disaster.
