    All Males

So I just have a quick question. I'm new to growing but pretty sure i got a good set up goin on cause all the plants i've grown seem to be really healthy and flourish. but the only problem is they have all been males... every single one so far... I've grown about 8. I grew 2 my first grow, 2 my second grow, and 4 this last time and they have ALL been no doubt male plants. Now I'm down to my last plant which is about 4" tall at the moment and my question is. is there anything I can do to help promote the chances of a plant becoming a female opposed to a becoming a male? Or is this completely up to Mother Nature to decide? any input would be appreciated! thx! -Dubmaster

ive heard somewhere in a video or print that when your grow room environment is at a cool temp that it will help the chances of females. i dont even know if its true or made up but once i had grow from seeds and my temps were 68-72 and i planted 6 and 6 turned females. but like again i could have just had good luck cause that sounds funny too me cause genetics and all that. but wouldnt hurt to try.

I had this problem before... 12 plants, 12 males... it was my first grow, and very heart breaking. But you live and learn, and learn, and learn... This latest crop of Big Bud i seeded 8 and got 3 fems... I turned around and put those ladies on 24/0 and took about 8 clones.

There are a few basic things you can do, or atleast avoid doing to reduce the chances of males.

Keeps the nutes down in the beginning. (I have 12 new seedlings, all 6" tall, in a DWC, and the PPM has been below 500 for about 2 weeks, and the plants are growing beautifully, not a brown spot or curled edge to be seen)

Dont eff with the lights too much except to raise or lower them as needed. You dont see the effect of heat burn on smaller plants until its almost too late.

And lastly, and this is my own person opinion, and not supported by anything other than my own observations, on my own plants. But it seems when i wait too long to flower (the plants get over 12") they turn out to be males. If i flower between 8"-10", i usually get 50/50.. Could just be random chance that that happens. But i think its because, personally, that the longer they veg, the more chance i have to eff something up. Be it, nute burn, light burn, warm water in res, PH, ect... the list goes on..

I try to sex early, no point wasting time or supplies.

    Goodluck:jointsmile:
