I realize lasers are really inneficient compared to LED as far as lumens per watt, I just don't see any high output ~730nm(ballpark) LED's laying around here to play with.

I'm starting this thread to discuss the possibilites of creating a poor-mans spectrometer from a webcam and a home-made spectragraph consisting of an old CD and cardboard tubing.
