Common Campus Bust

Hey guys. I was recently involved in a campus arrest in Rhode Island. The way in which the whole scenario went down was really messed up and; my friend and I got arrested. The charges were not bad at all however; I am a good kid and for those that posted they don't have respect for kids in college messing it up. I am not because my GPA is a 3.62. It's just I smoke weed and got in trouble. We were not smoking in the room; however since we had an in scent burning the hall director thought we were smoking in the room. So long story short, she called the Police. We then got caught with roughly 1 gram of weed each and my friend had a bowl. The cops were huge ass holes and most other situations I have heard of, the cops just give you a ticket and take the pot. We then were placed in the holding cell; they went through fingerprints, pictures, questions, etc. On the peace of paper it says for both of us, possession of marijuana in the first offense. It is not a huge situation however I was wondering at most what I can be charged with, such as fines, community service, or period of adjustment (filling). Also I just realized that the police did not read us our rights until they were handing our pieces of paper back about three minutes before we left the building. Any knowledge would be nice. Most likely I am hoping they will throw it out when we go to court because it is not that big of a misdemeanor.
