net pot? I don't remember anybody advising you to use one of those. Observe the roots when transplanting, otherwise leave em alone!
LolaGal Reviewed by LolaGal on . First time Soil Folks, My previous 2 grows have been Hydro with great success. I am going to try soil this time. In a 5 gallon bucket I have filled it a little more than 3/4 with Promix BX. It has all the medium necessary except nutrients. I bought some blood meal for Nitrogen. I just sprouted a Great White Shark bean and it looks good so far. I am uncertain as to how to apply the blood meal and when to start. Directions state to sprinkle it on top and water so I suppose that would be what to do but how Rating: 5

I don't know what a net pot is? I was talking about standard plant pots with extra holes drilled in the bottom....and no drip pans; without a spacer added. ALL excess moisture must drain away.
I use 10-52-10 bloom nutes for flowering. 1/4 strenght mixed with water. I don't feed until near starvation.

DP,
So 10" pots are plenty sufficient for root space to final harvest?

Right on DP
I just scooped the seedling out of the 5 gal bucket and put it in a solo cup like you do.
So when I see the roots poking out the outer cup or I guess I can just lift it out and see if roots are present at the bottom either way I then will put into the 6" pot. Now when you do this how much medium are you putting in the pot before placing the plant into it. At this point are you placing the whole solo cup with the bottom cut out into the 6"pot or does the solo cup get tossed at this point?
Also are you using your HID light the whole time from seedling. Right now I have a floro on mine very mellow light discharge but its only been popped out of the medium for like 3 days but it is growing rapidly so thats a good thing. You think I should kick up the light at this point. I too have a 400 W HID light interchangeable MH/HPS!

1. Taking the plant out of the 16 oz cup..(throw the cup away)... put the plant into a 6 inch pot and add as much soil as possible.
2. I have used my 400 watt HPS Hortilux for seedlings. And have used T-12 floro tubes too...for the first 2 weeks. No difference for me. I grow roots first.

Appreciate the rapid responses
So when you see the roots on the bottom of the 6" pot what is your process of removing it to go into the 8" pot. Do you just loosen the soil around the edges and pull gently at the base of the stock and it all slides out? I am thinking that at this point the roots are binding together with the medium pretty solid and compact is that the case? Does the plant get shocked in any way, do any of the roots tear? Do you always give it a healthy watering right after the transplant? Sorry for all the questions but I just want to do the right thing. Since you seem to be pretty good with soil I am riding my first soil grow on your advice.
Peace

It slides out of the 6 inch pot, easy...cause the root system is compact...can't hardly see the soil because of the roots.......same with 8 to 10 inch.
flip it upside down and pull it out...don't fiddlefuck around...do it quick. Put the root ball into a new, bigger pot with fresh soil added.
I like a weak dose of root stimulator and water when finished, too. Zero shock, if done right.
