    MMJ...medicine or myth

Yes and no Lazy. You're right about the guys with back aches and headaches. What I'm talking about is the industry itself that has sprung up to lobby for MMJ. Obviously the feds have made it all but impossible to research the benefits of MMJ so there is not as much scientific data as there is anecdotal evidence for MMJ. I just think that the groups like NORML have jumped on the MMJ bandwagon and are not pushing the real reasons that it should be legalized for general enjoyment and cultivation. Because it's probably the "lesser of all the evils" so to speak when it comes to recreational drug. As I mentioned before, more people have died, more families destroyed and more lives and careers ruined by alcohol than any other drug on the planet. Not to mention the personal freedom that is being tromped on in the name of saving us from ourselves.

I think for the most part MMJ is a cop out but still at the same time there are benefits to smoking it but not to the point where it's going to cure cancer. I mean lets face it...if weed didn't exist I think everyone, including MMJ patients wouldn't die. It's more or less a better alternative for some. Personally I smoke it for recreational purposes and recreational purposes only. I guess it helps relieve stress if you want to stretch it but otherwise I won't deny that I seek it for pleasure. The only discrepency I have with it is the fact that I smoke it. Now I don't know if I'm right and I encourage anyone to disprove this, but I have a strong hunch that Pot smoke is bad for your lungs. Maybe not as bad as cigarette smoke but still. I've only been smoking for a few years and I can definitely tell the difference between my clean lungs at 16 and my pot infested lungs at 20. Not that the THC has anything to do with it but come on...I mean it is smoke going into your lungs which does indeed create tar build up. Why else are all of my pipes infested with resin? Sorry I don't know if anyone believes this but a lot of people claim it isn't harmful to your lungs. Seriously someone please correct me on this if I'm wrong because I'd rather find out I'm wrong than right....after all I am a pothead :stoned:
I think that weed is terrible for your lungs. If you really think about it, one fat bt is probably equal to a full cigs amount of smoke. I will take anywhere from 10-20 bt's a day on average and that is a lot of smoke. On top of all that I smoke cigs and hookah so there is always smoke in my lungs. I get bronchitis frequently and it goes away when i stop smoking weed. I can smoke cigs all day every day and be fine, same with hookah, but once i add pot to the mix my lungs are fucked. So your probably right about the smoke being a "little" bad for the lungs.

You seem to be talking more about a corporate conspiracy than a cop out to me.

most doctors will agree that MMJ has some uses but not nearly as many as the strong activists are saying.

and yes, pot is bad for your lungs. it just doesnt cause cancer like tobacco does.

I think because cannabis is persecuted so much people who advocate it are much more defensive in response. Yes it does help quite a few ailments but I hear alot of people bogusly talking about its medicinal properties like its a divine healing plant that makes everthing better. Its not a cure-all.

You may be right on the fact that some orginizations are just doing it for the money. It's one reason I haven't donated any money to them. Why haven't I seen any commercials on tv with all the donated money they are recieving? There could be a great spinoff to those retarded "above the influence" propaganda ads.

I used to smoke weed just to get high. Then I became educated on what the plant is. Now I use it for several reasons other then just getting high. It helps with stomach aches, headaches, aches and pains and so many other things. Why deal with a bunch of drugs when I can use one harmless herb. I love Mary Jane, and I will never leave her.

Here's an interesting article that I think adds to the discussion.

Great article. With all the states that are medical already, we really need to start getting behind this in the way that article explains. I think we are closer then ever. Now we just need to get together and demand our freedom.
