That's salt buildup. Did you rinse your hydroton between uses?

I Just got the nutes like two weeks ago. I rinsed them the first day i got them. Then before i put them in the pot's i rinsed them again. maybe just not good enough i guess if i got the salt building up. but will that be alright for a few more days. im trying to keep them on a schedule with feeding.

Those little orange clay marbles are called Hydrotron pellets.
They are your grow-media.
New Hydrotron needs to be soaked in PH 5-6 water for a day or so to neutralize it's natural alkalinity.
Then rinsed thoroughly before use.
"Nutes" is short for nutrients.
Hope you are not trying to feed new seedlings.
They should have no nutes for the first week or so, just water.
Then it's best to start them with 1/4 strength for a while, then increase the strength slowly as they grow.
Different strains will require/tolerate different nute concentrations. So it's best to increase the PPM in small increments.
If the tips of the leaves start to brown, back off a little and you should be "in the ballpark".
Painting the tub black, or wrappin it in contact paper, or foil, or duct tape will keep the light out jus' fine.
I just set my tubs in a black plastic trash bag and then cover the top with Reflectix.
Keeps the light from the roots, relects the light to the plant and catches spills.
Havin' fun yet?

it looks like there is algae choking the roots of your plants and eating all the delicious nutrients.
your reservoir needs to be light-proof, buy a roll of metal tape from home depot (should be near the ducting) and tape up every inch of your res until it is PITCH BLACK inside, even (especially) the top, anywhere you can see blue, needs to be taped.
I've tried duct tape, spray paint, black plastic.. the metal tape works by far the best, and it keeps it insulated (probably).
should solve the pesky algae problem... also throw in a few mls of that Hydrogen Peroxide daily to kill algae while you procrastinate

Im a huge fan of hydroguard. I love that stuff.. My hydro guy told me the Govt is forcing them to change from liquid to powder form. Something about proper use of chemicals.
I've had a few algae problems in my E&F and if you use the proper amount of hydroguard, it takes care of it every time.
peace
