Do you think decarboxilizing the weed (what is it? 325 for 5 min?) and then straight eating it would get you just as high as making brownies or any other edible treat? I was just reading around on the forums here and the idea sparked in my head?:rastasmoke:

It might, I've heard some people say that it'll work even without decarboxilating it. It might not though, a lot of others say that the thc has to be extracted. Perhaps its just easier for the body to get thc out of butter of oil than the fibrous plant material. The basic point is just, why would you even want to eat it raw? Brownies seem like a much better option.

well, I posted a 'recipe' for just that, right here: http://boards.cannabis.com/medical-m...-capsules.html
I just tried it with the roach of a joint and strangely, I THINK IT WORKS! I ate it straight up , right after decarbing it.

I really should do more experimenting. I've only been using a little and it's had at least some effect on me. Maybe it wasn't the full effect but it did something.

Well... eating decarboxilated weed is indeed more effective than non-decarboxilated weed, but its still wasteful.
You could get high from this, but dissolving the weed in something suitable (alcohol, milk, butter, etc) gives MUCH better results with much less weed.

Coelho----- good point!
THC, THCv, and your cannabinols (sp?) only become psychoactive (get you high) after being heated up. Smoking, making butter (or the capsules/green dragon) all heat the herb above the decarboxilization threshold.
But to answer your question, AbrandnewL, I very seriously doubt it would fry you like a brownie or other candy. THC is fat/oil/alcohol soluble, so the special butter soaks it all up, versus heating the THC and straight ingesting it, if that makes sense. With that being said, I haven't tried your idea yet, but will definitely give it a shot this Friday! What's the worst thing that could happen from eating a gram... choke on a stem?! (actually, knowing my luck I would choke on the ONE seed in the whole crop!!!)
I like the taste of good weed.... nothin better than chewin on a branch when you're harvesting!

Well... its not exactly this way... this is a very usual misconception about the weed.

BUT the psychoative cannabinoids (THC, CBD, etc) are active even without heating. They dont need to be heated to get you high.
So, heating the weed can indeed make it stronger, but its only because it increases its amount of THC, and not because it alters (activates or whatever) the THC itself in any way.

One question. If one just heated it at a lower temperature (ie if it can be decarbed at 180-200 for 10 minutes) for a longer amount of time or at least the amount of time necessary for these pills to work right?

well.. I guess my oven is just a bit messed up or something. If I dry the weed at a lower temp its not as effective as doing it at 22 (even though my oven goes above 250 at 225. The problem is, if I set it any higher than 175 the oven will go above 250 according to the temp gauge, and even above 225... But it doesn't do much at 175.
