Traveling soon, need advice for safest way to carry my piece.

I go to school down at NAU (Northern Arizona University) in Flagstaff. I will be flying home next weekend and I have a piece that I bought since I was here and plan on bringing it back. What would be the best way to clean it and pack it in my bags...or does it even matter how I pack. I've just never traveled with paraphernalia and I'd like to know the best and safest way to get back to Denver with no problems.

    Moved to appropriate section.
You cannot travel with a used piece so it needs to be 100% squeaky clean. There's a sticky about cleaning glass pieces at the top of this section.
I would add another step after the cleaning, which would be a good soak in a bunch of listerine- the yellow kind. Then rinse well.
If it smells even SLIGHTLY 'used', and yuou know that smell, do the whole thing over again.
Then you can safely pack it in a piece of large-diameter pvc pipe with end covers, wrapped in bubble wrap, and overnight it home. Spend the extra $$$ on fast mail to avoid curious postal employees fussing with it.

whatever you decide to do, make sure that shit is perfectly clean. Even then I'd still mail it, just make sure its protected and write fragile in big letters on the box

i agree with everybody. do what stinky said and even vacuum seal it before putting it in a pvc pipe if you can. don't fly with anything, i've been hearing the dogs are getting good at smelling through vacuum seal too now.

I usually throw it under the back seat, or hidden in a bookbag or something.
