How does it work with tomatoes? I am a soil guy myself, but as far as flowering requirements, light sched requirements? PH requirements? For soil and for feeding? How can I get a good batch of tomatoes?[/quote]

I still use dirt,
for geraniums.

Started futzing with Tomatoes a long while back.
They grow jus' fine in the ground, but to grow a decent tomato crop in containers requires huge containers.
A big vine can transpire 2 gallons of water per day. Enough soil to host that much water can be difficult to deal with.

Makes 'em a perfect candidate for large DWC setups though.
The PH and nutes are easy to deal with in a 24 gallon tub, but I did have to move them outside for enough light.
(LEDs are being put to better use.)
My next experiment will use 55 Gallon tubs.

Basically, I'm eliminating limits.

Plants need;
air/co2
h2o
PAR light
Nutes
and some TLC

They all interact, and any one factors limits, become the whole plant's limits.
Once I'm confident there are no other bottlenecks, I can tweak the light for power, spectra, and TIMING and have meaningful results.

Growing cannabis under dichroic LEDs the exact same way as one grows under HPS is, IMO, folly!
A waste of the potential for full control.

Watt for Watt, I'm sure I can grow better than HPS now!

Not good enough!
I'm aiming higher.
Once I can get a better yeild from DWC/LED indoors,
than I can get from volcanic soil and tropical sun outdoors, I'll call myself a good gardener.

So, what are you growing?

Weezard Reviewed by Weezard on . Growing Other Veggies Along side Hey, I don't want to break any rules, I hope that I am not. I just wanted some of your quick 2 cents on growing other veggies, tomatoes, squash, whatever! My question is, what are some that are easy to grow along side, w/ similar basice soil indoor setup. I would like a whole bunch of fried green tomatoes. I guess, do other plants generally bloom like lowryder, or do they depend on photoperiod? Hmmm? See what I am getting at here? Help please!
