Well, from the sound of it, you still have a fairly large amount of info to squeeze in. Any information you need to grow is contained in the forums. I've learned almost everything I know from these forums. So, first off, read over a lot of the grow logs. You'll find so much information that way!
Now, first and foremost, that "regular lightbulb" isn't going to do anything for you. Lights need to be the correct color temperature. For vegging, you'll want bulbs that are 6500K <--that's the color temperature. For flowering, you'll want bulbs that are 2700K. Most people use HID lighting (MH and HPS), Flourescent lighting, or LED lights. I personally am using CFL's (Compact Flourescent Light). You know, the small, spiral bulbs that are "energy efficient". These will do the job, but more seasoned growers will guide you in the direction of MH and HPS lighting (HID), but in the end it comes down to how much room you have available and how much heat you can deal with. MH & HPS generally run hotter than CFL's.
Now, that should get you started on your research for lighting. That's definitely not all the info you need. Like I said, it'll get you started.
You see how your plant is tall and skinny? It's stretching out as far as it can, so it can get closer to the light. If you'll lower your light to where it's just a few inches from the plant, things will start working in your favor. Of course, you'll want to keep the light far enough away from the plant to keep them from burning, so use your best judgement.
Hope that helps you a little... That's all the time I've got right now, so start reading! You'll be amazed at the wealth of information you can find on this plant and how it grows!

Forgot to mention the light schedule.
When vegging your plant, you'll want to run your lights on 18/6, which translates to 18 hours of daylight and 6 hours of complete darkness (no light at all during this period!). Once your plant is mature enough to flower, you'll switch to 12/12, which would be 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of dark.
Now, some people run 24 hours of daylight during vegging, I do not. Your dark period is when your roots get most of their growth, and roots are important. So, I would run it at 18/6. (Get a timer to control this for you, they're less than $10 at Home Depot or Lowes)
I'm really done, this time!
