Grow Experiment for max yeild: Lowryder 2

I have done alot of reading and research because I want to be well schooled before I start my grow.

My goal is to get the max yield from lowryder II's The first grow will be an experiment and learning experience and also to make seeds for future grows

I read that aeroponics will increase the yield... I found this system... the RainForest 236

It seems like it would be perfect for my grow, any other insight is appreciated

I have also read that MH and HPS will increase the yield. So I should get a ballest for both? or does that not matter with the lowryder 2 strain? I will be growing in a closet with the needed ventilation.

Should I use 1000w or is that over doing it for an average bedroom closest (I plan on making a cooltube)

would the rainforest system be to much for a first time grower?

will it produce seeds or would a soil grow be better for both?



any comments, suggestions, or thoughts are welcome... i plan on turning this into my grow log.

Well, aeroponics is the most efficient way because it gives your plant oxygenated water and thats great, but as a beginner you are better off trying a soil grow first until you get the hang of it.....Oh and on the lights, HPS are the most efficient lighting for growth but a 1000W may be to overpowering for a closet, depending on the size. You would also def. want a ballast and some type of way to circulate fresh air in the closet because it could get really hot....I too have a closet project in about a 4x4 closet of some dank silver haze and i usually run a small oscillating fan for circulation, and temperature and humidty gage are a must, specially with the HPS heat....with my project i bought two 48in flourescent grow lights and grow flood lights from wal-mart ($20 for all three) and experimenting to see how they affect growth....But HPS def. is the way too go, a 400W will do you just fine prolly and if you could get some type of CO2 aeration that will also optimize yield....but they're plenty of ebooks out on the internet to help you....AND if you can get "High Times: Jorge Cervantes Ultimate Grow 1" that DVD is very good insight...should help out a lot if ya can get your hands on it....If ya want to know anymore, i have endless books on this that may help... :rasta:

thanks man... ugh my mouth started watering when you said silver haze... Yeah I know soil is the best for beginners but the reason I went for the harder method was because I would have a lot of time on my hands... but either way, I'm going to stick with soil

They have ballests on ebay with have a socket for both MH and HPS bulbs.. I think im going to get that... You really think 400 is enough... I want to grow about 10 plants and I want to try and evenually get an oz out of the each plant

for air flow i plan on building a ventilation system that will vent air out into the apartment... and bring fresh air in... I thinking I could build some sort of CO2 system to fill the closest.. maybe dry ice or a drip system

well i mean more is always better, just as long as the ventilation is up to par.....how big is the grow area? Oh and on the aeroponics, if you want some real supremo bud that is def. the way to go, considering you say you have the extra time then that could be a really efficient way to getting the yield ya want, plus with some type of CO2 set up i heard it could also increase yield to 10-20% (don't know how credible that is)....so to sum everything up, of course more lumens....better bud! Also if you do want to do some type of aeroponics it would also be cheaper to build your own setup(if you don't mind doing the work :smokin....would save a whole lotta money and be just as efficient(half the price)

Thats a link to a really detailed aeroponics set up that you could look it, but of course you don't have to go to the extreme as this set up, it's just a guideline....

well me and a close friend are spilting cost... I'm doing all the work because it was orginally my grow and I'm a perfectionist when it comes to things like this.. so I'm willing to invest into what is needed... but if I can make an aeropontic set up that will be that same as a purchased one, I'll do it.

I'm not 100% sure how big the grow area is, cause I didn't look at the closet when I saw the apartment.. but it should have a big enough space

as for heat.. I was planing on making this cool tube and venting the heat into the apartment to help save energy for heating this winter.. cause i want to go green :]

here is what im debating

soil = insurence that your plants will survive incase something minor happens, lots of seeds, easier growing

aero = max yeild, cleaner growing, better bud

so should I grow more plants in soil to make up for the difference in yeild, and work my way up to aero.

I just want to stop relying on shady scummy people for my stash and become a self depenant smoker

What exactly do you mean by that? Like will the cannabis produce seeds?

And that venting idea is a great one considering you can cut out the cost of the heater by doing that (less energy=safer grow:thumbsup Yeah and it gets old dealing with other people when ya can take the time for your own bud....

Also it probably would be better to start with soil, so that you know what more to expect in case something does happen....Like you said, it's def. safer route....i myself haven't tried a hydroponic set up like that yet, i'm growing in soil myself will have pictures uploaded soon to see

I heard it was really hard to get seeds with an aero or hydro set up... cause i want alot of seed... like did you ever see that skittles commercial with that dude that turns everything he touches to skittles... I want my plant to do that same with seeds when i touch it with the male branch

are you using different light for the veg stage and flowering?

yeah i plan on using 2 HPS 250W for flowering because of the lower spectrum, i figure when they get a little bigger i am going to use a combo of CFL's and HPS.....And I never knew it was that much diff. to get seed, i figured you couldn't help if a plant was male of female, so in that case the soil is the best bet!!
