Obama Tilts Toward Iran Contra Gates
"By far the most numerous and most flagrant violations
of personal liberty and individual rights
are performed by governments ...
The major crimes throughout history,
the ones executed on the largest scale,
have been committed not by individuals or bands of individuals
but by governments, as a deliberate policy of those governments ...
that is, by the official representatives of governments,
acting in their official capacity."

FINAL REPORT OF THE INDEPENDENT COUNSEL
FOR IRAN/CONTRA MATTERS
Robert M. Gates Chapter 16
Robert M. Gates was the Central Intelligence Agency's deputy director for intelligence (DDI) from 1982 to 1986. He was confirmed as the CIA's deputy director of central intelligence (DDCI) in April of 1986 and became acting director of central intelligence in December of that same year. Owing to his senior status in the CIA, Gates was close to many figures who played significant roles in the Iran/contra affair and was in a position to have known of their activities. The evidence developed by Independent Counsel did not warrant indictment of Gates for his Iran/contra activities or his responses to official inquiries.

In 1984, Robert Gates, then the No. 2 CIA official, advocated U.S. airstrikes against Nicaragua's pro-Cuban government to reverse what he described as an ineffective U.S. strategy to deal with communist advances in Central America, previously classified documents say.
Gates & the Iran Arms Sales
In November 1987, as the Reagan administration was still scrambling to contain the Iran-Contra scandal, then-deputy CIA director Robert M. Gates denied that the spy agency had soft-pedaled intelligence about Iran??s support for terrorism to clear the way for secret U.S. arms shipments to the Islamic regime.
President Bush nominated former CIA director Robert Gates to replace Donald Rumsfeld as Secretary of Defense. We take a look at Gates?? role at the CIA in connection to the Iran-Contra scandal and the secret arming of Saddam Hussein with former CIA analyst Mel Goodman, who testified before the Senate in 1991 against the nomination of Gates as CIA director, and investigative journalist Bob Parry who helped expose Iran-Contra. Paulson Behind Martial Law Bait And Switch Scam
On a Tulsa Oklahoma radio program Wednesday, Senator James Inhofe revealed that it was Henry Paulson who was behind the threats of martial law and a new great depression prior to the passage of the bailout bill.
Sen. Inhofe said Paulson made the dire warnings during a conference call on September 19th, around two weeks before the legislation was approved by both the Senate and Congress. The Oklahoma senator said that Paulson told members of Congress the crisis would be ??far worse than the great depression? if Congress didn??t authorize the bill to buy out toxic debt. Inhofe added that Paulson abandoned this proposal the day after he got the money. Instead Paulson, the former CEO of Goldman Sachs, had pulled a fear-mongering bait and switch scam and ordered the money be injected directly into unidentified banks.
