    Kowalski's Log #1 - The story of a plant.

Well, I had expected to be putting this girl in bloom by around the first of December, but I think it's going to be longer than that before her mom is chopped down.

Again this camera is crap, but here's some pre-game bud shots ;-) I'm guessing at the very least 2 more weeks until she's ready to chop.

Bagseed beauty - 57 days in bloom so far. Bloomed under 4x42 CFL from Sept. 27th to Nov 18th. 4x42 + 400 hps from Nov. 18th on.

That is one plant in the last set, the mother plant from which the plant I'm about to bloom was taken. This is the BsB. She shares the bloom space with three other plants at the moment - two of them extremely small and being bloomed just for seeds, and another that was revegged for clones and now being bloomed a second time.

It is too early to know if there is a noticeable difference in growth with all of the added lumens - actually I wouldn't be able to tell with this plant anyway because it is naturally going to swell quite a bit during its final weeks, and I have no previous experience growing it under CFL - the first time I grew this plant was under a 400 watt HPS in a good sized room - and it was tree sized compared to this one which I've had to bonsai essentially due to my cramped grow area.

I'm hoping to put three Afghoo plants in sometime around January 17th after the revegged plant and the two little prego-girls are out of the way. The next set after that if everything works out as planned will be BsB in Hempy-Hydro [GH Flora-Nova]... followed by a batch of Afghoo in Hempy.

Continuing to dial in temperatures: I've added a second 4" in-line duct fan which helps to pull air from veg into bloom. The existing 4" fan is now connected to a first round prototype for a cool-ish-tube setup. It proves that it will work, but I need to redo it with a better glass tube. The only thing I could find was a $2.75 candle holder with a glass tube which just barely suffices for the moment. It is far too narrow, creating a massive constriction and far too close to the bulb. It is also just barely too short so the very tip of the bulb is actually covered by the 4" dryer vent. The light space is currently partially divided from the bloom space by a sheet of plexi-glass which conveniently manages to cover about 75% of the cabinet space.... just enough to divide the nice warmishness below from the desert sun above. Both the plexiglass and the horrible cool-ish-tube rendition make a huge difference.

This rig, with the help of the winter chill, is able to keep the bloom chamber's temperature no more than 4 to 6 degrees Fahrenheit above the veg chamber's temperature (score!). Temperatures are still higher than I'd like them to be overall. It's now 60F in the hallway, 75F in veg, and 80 in bloom. This is with my plastic curtains closed but the blanket which covers my space tied back. Closing the blanket over the rig as well raises the temperature of both Veg and Bloom by 5 degrees.

It looks like with a bit of work and part scrounging, I should have ventilation under control here shortly. This grow space is coming along a bit like a cross between Red Green (duct-tape combined with bits from things your neighbors threw out can solve all of the world's problems) and Tooltime (Arr Arr Arrrrrr Ugh More Power!)

Sorry, I've been busy lately. I'll take new shots tonight and give an update. Plant is still very much alive and happy, now on its 18th day of bloom (yay).
