    Guide to Pot Smoking

    Maximizing the Marijuana Experience
A Pot-Smoking Guide by Tim Acree

The author of the adage ??moderation in everything? was a wise, wise fellow.
Marijuana is no exception to this rule. In terms of pot use, less is more.
In moderation, marijuana illuminates the beauty in the world, and opens the gateway to magical states of enhanced consciousness.
But while smoking heavily (and I know from experience), marijuana is counter-productive, depersonalizing, and far less enjoyable.

Below are several tips to help make the most of the marijuana experience.

-Smoke in moderation (avoid ??burning out??)
Not only does this save money, but it also allows the user to more fully enjoy the experience.

-When smoking, be conscious of setting and atmosphere
The atmosphere while smoking plays an underrated role in the cannabis experience. Friends, music, and scenery all play a role, as well as the user??s mindset prior to the session. If you are procrastinating on an important essay, it will be detrimental to the high. If metal is being blasted on the speakers, and you find metal to be depressing and anxiety-producing, the experience can be ruined. If your marijuana use is primarily spiritual, as it is for me, your mindset going in is key. And if you suffer from paranoia because of pots illegality, maybe smoking isn??t the best thing for you in the first place.

    -Use willpower to control overeating
The munchies are one of the classic effects of cannabis intoxication. But when you get that itch to pig out, consider how you will feel the next day with your stomach stretched and a newly developed jiggle in your ass. If you absolutely must chow down, consider alternatives like raw almonds, fresh fruit, or even chewing gum.

    -Consider your intentions
Why are you smoking? Is it to enhance a concert, relax with friends, or is it an entirely spiritual ritual? Whatever your purpose is (and it might be a combination of the three!) it is important to appreciate the reason for your use. Smoking simply for the sake of smoking shows an utter lack of respect for this magical herb. Once again, less is more.

    -Be mindful of others
One of the beautiful parts of the marijuana sub-culture is the emphasis on tolerance and appreciation for all people. With that in mind, respect the personal limits of others. One bong hit to them may be the equivalent of three joints to you. We are in this together, and with that mindset, the cannabis experience can be fully maximized.

Couldn't agree with you more....although I need to work on that moderation part. Back in High school I had it down to a skill, primarily because I couldn't function while high....but these days I can do everything stoned so I tend to smoke more often than I should.

I disagree, respectfully of course, on your "reasons" why you should smoke. You don't need a reason son, smoking just for the sake of the smoke I think implies the utmost respect for the herb. It wasn't intended to do one specific thing, it was meant to be smoked by anyone anywhere. If that means smoking, doing nothing and getting lost in your own head, so be it. You shouldn't ever tell people how to smoke dude.

I especially love the bit about being mindful of others...nothing's worse than getting high with someone who acts like a dick when they're baked. That's a blow to everything weed is all about, really.

Yeah dude, I wasn't hating on his methods of pot saving. Those are all good ideas. A grinder is a fantastic investment.

I was just saying he shouldn't dictate circumstances under which you shouldn't smoke, because as nature intended it, there are none.

I think he was doing more of a "How to optimize marijuana. When and how to get the most out of this wonderful herb." type of guide. And although I admit that there is no "one" way to smoke what findingTim said, if applied by most people, would attain those objectives. Like pretty much every thing the experience of marijuana smoking wont be the same for every one, hence the best circumstances to smoke will be personal.

I would also like to add to this guide that if you are to try moderating your smoking it is of the utmost importance to clearly establish your rules. Otherwise you are most likely to smoke at every occasion, combine that with a freshly purchased once and youll have a very hazy next days.
