    high PH

Ok, I just did a PH reading on my hydro set up and found the PH to be 7.6.
What can I use to bring it down?
    vinagar? lemon juice?
I dont have the $$$ to go get ph reducer.
and the hydro store is closed? is there another way?
    thanks

Don't take this as factual as but i have found several people say sulfuric acid can be used, its in ph down at the local pet shop. I'm currently using it with no problems. Cost me $20 but well worth it. I was dealing with the same ph as you, but have now got my clones down to 6.8 safely and plan on getting them down to 6.0 eventually. My plants in soil didn't really like the 7.5 tap water either, probably why i've had yellow leaves mid way on the plant.

mine is straight well water right from thr ground. no sofner or anything.
    just like nature intended.
The plants are growing but I think If i lowered the PH they could do better.
i will try to add some lemon juice.

OK I added 1/2 cup lemon juice to the 5 gallons of hydro and brought the PH to 6.0 so I added approx 1 table spoon baking powder to bring it to 6.4-6.5.
    lol
Am i baking a cake or growing?
Time will tell if i get angel food (heavenly weed) or devils food (shwag).

    :wtf:1/2 cup!:wtf: Wow!

But lemon juice was the right choice.
    Vinegar can cause slime.

    As for the Bicarb?
    Stinky says no.
Too much sodium screws up the osmotic pressure gradient, or gives 'em the heebie jeebies, or...

Dunno really, but I trust Stinky.

A tablespoon won't kill'em but I stopped Baking in the greenhouse on good advice alone.

Could have left it at 6.0, actually.
Hydro likes a lower PH than soil.
If you are using hydrotron, the PH is likely to creep back up anyway.

    No worries, I vote Angelfood.:angelsmiley:

I vote for angel food too. I am growing in LAVA rock.
the same great rocks used to bake your chicken in the summer will grow me some good bud to bake me in the winter. lol
here are a few pics. they are just 2 weeks out of the napkin.

As you can see one plant is completely submerged during the water cycle.

another is above the waters surface.....but still touching.

yet here is another pic and they are above the flood zone surface and doing good.

I figure flooding them like this also folar feeds them at the same time.
the water is very highly oxygenated.

I'm not expert but some hydrochloric acid from the drugstore, like $2 a bottle, should do the trick. I believe it will also get rid of dead root matter too. Anything acid will lower pH, didn't you take chemistry!?

chemistry was an option and as not mandatory.
    No I didn't take it.
Acids and alkilines were taught in basic science.

Sulfuric acid. Go to the car parts store and get battery acid. It is stong so be carefull. A little goes a long way. That is what the big comercial growers use in hydro for huge rez's. I got my bro to use it and now ph doesn't flux on him as bad.

Don't use pool stuff it has other stuff in it. Killed all my bro's stuff.
