I could get over 4x the rockwool for the same price, which one is better for seedling starters and cloning?

alright, im heading to a hydro store tomorow to pick them up along with a bag of Fox Farms Ocean Floor soil, there dont have much for cloning gel though, but im picking up dyna gro cloning gel, anyone have any experience with this regarding: survival %, shelf life, and rooting time? Would Rootech be better?

i have only cloned 2 times but both were sucessful. i never used any cloning gel or any rooting hormone, just put them in the rapid rooters and then covered them.

If they have Dip and Grow go with that. Stinky recommmended it and it's the best stuff Ive used so far.

this is just for now till i actually order from htgsupply and im definetly gettin dip n grow, but for now this is gonna have to go...Propogation theres only a couple cloners available at this shop, and its the closet one and its an hour away from me Clone-it and im considering getting a daisy cloner 8 site next paycheck since there only 65 bucks and aero/bubble cloners have a higher success rate with no gel hassles, but it depends how dip n grow goes if someone could look at the links provided, which cloner that seems the best would be awesome

I'm one that has no inner "sense" of growing and so can't get away with things like just popping the thing into a oit if soil and it grows fine......I seem to encounter every possible problem when I try something new and have to hash things down to a powder till I get it right.

You can only do the best you can. There are differences (imho) between people who WANT to grow right but are limited in some way; time, money, space etc. That's not the same as the folks who really aren't interested in putting much of ANYTHING of themselves into their grow.....but will happily post question after question totally without caring about the energy/time/knowledge in the time other folks spend to help them. Those are the type that put one off helping others.

You strike me as one who is limited.....not lazy. There are ways to work around MANY things as long as you are willing to do the research.

Just do the best you can.....that's all. Growing is a continual learning journey.....that's why I love it and love sharing things I have learned to like minded people.

PS...I don't use a cloner.......I use the rapid rooters and a cheap plastic humidity dome to clone my stuff......perhaps try it before you put down hard earned $$ on a cloner.

when you use a dome set up for cloning do you have to water the rapid rooters at all? or do you just mist the dome and the tray, i've never cloned before and been try'n to read up on this method.how often do you mist the dome? how long do the cuttings stay in the dome? just try'n to work up the confidence to try it.

Definitely rapid rooters. Especially if you are doing soil.

When you take them out of the bag they will feel moist/damp. That is the level of watering you want to maintain. Not soaked, Not dry, just moist. Also, don't use the hole provided, it's too big and inhibits root growth. Use an xacto or other sharp device to poke a hole in the bottom or in the material next to the hole so that the stem is held firmly all the way into the rapid rooter. a snug fit is what i would call it.

I've built 3 different aero cloners following DIY instructions on this site with very little success. Don't let that sway you from trying it though, everyone else seems to be getting the hang of it.

I prefer the humidity dome. I have my bottom tray, then on top of that i have one of those trays with spots for 72 plugs. I fill the bottom tray with just enough water to peak through the holes in the upper tray. Then i put my clones in there, mist 2-3 times a day, and within 1-2 weeks i have my hands full with thriving clones.

Cloning is still the hardest part of growing for me.
