Actually, the information in the thread was incomplete IMO. No information is old, and this could be the way to go for a person to grow their own economically. Sun Systems say 6"-8" but I think that's too far. I'll stick with the 4" for now and see. The grow tips are really sprouting on the branching, and the tallest one has some bottom sprouts that can be used as clones.

Gypskiâ?¦..regardless of Shakeâ??s negativity
thanks for bringing this back up. I just swapped out T12â??s for T5â??s and had the same question.
Might wait on O.M.â??s hyperdriving them though.

I've been setting mine about 4" and letting the plant grow toward it then adjust daily or every other day. I also have mine on a slight angle so I can move the plants to where I want them in relation to the light. I like it for what I'm trying to accomplish. :smokin:

Don't overdrive your T5HOs. You will drastically sorten the lifespan of the electrodes in the tubes.
I used to use T5HO, not any longer, though.

OM overdrives everything
I just bought an Ice Cap ballast and endcaps etc, to build a four light 4' set-up, driven to VHO levels (54watt HO becomes 85watt VHO) to supplement a TI SmartLamp......From OM's post above.
I hear he also drives a Ferrari and dates 20 yr old girlsâ?¦..wait a secondâ?¦..that doesnâ??t sound all that bad!
I was just teasing about hyperdriving the T5â??sâ?¦..but I couldnâ??t find the :jerkingyourchain: icon.

Ok, I did a search, and found its rewiring your set up, and I'm not into modding it. If I wanted more juice, I'd get a bigger system!!
