Clone a hermaphrodite? Can't find an answer...

So much talk about light leaks I thought i'd post my question. Will holding a lighter up to look at the plants in the dark cause them to hermie? what about a flash from a camera once or twice? I've made these mistakes a few times but realized I should never disturb them while their sleeping. Should i get reverse just in case?

I love Reverse and use it without fail for a couple of reasons. one is that we live in the country....and end up with electrical outages fairly often. I personally think that you can get away with ONCE flashing a light at them.....the second time on out with ANY lighting (yes lighters, cameras) and you are putting your foot in the first journey towards hermies.

So I say yes,. use Reverse because you can't always plan the future. And no, don't take photos or a "quick peek" or anything else during lights off unless you want to chance hermieing your plants.

Thanks Weedhound, for the excellent advice. I won't do it anymore. I wish the guy at my local hydro shop would stop telling me he knows his shit, and how he's been doing it for 15yrs, and actually help me! But thats why I'm here instead He told me he doesn't use reverse and would never recomend it because it doesn't change the sex of the plants. I told him I wouldn't be using it to change the sex and I would only be using it to prevent hermies. Still didn't make sense to him. lol

It's a rare strain that would hermie under so little and so weak light as a lighter gives off. A camera flash, I don't know. It's doubtful. I also think that Reverse is supposed to be run preventatively and by the time you are looking back and asking these questions, it might be too late. I'm not 100% on this. However, if you exposed them to light stress over a week ago and still have not seen any male parts developing, you are probably fine.

Edit: Reverse functions by preventing seed formation as I understand. They use it to make seedless cucumbers and watermelons too... it's not just for pot, haha!

Stinky, you have me thinking now. Do you think lowes or HD or anywhere besides a hydro shop would carry reverse? Since it is for plants of all types and what not! I just hate driving across town every other day to satisfy my new desires But yea, I shocked them quite a few times last week and earlier on with lighters and flashes. It might be that i'm too new of a grower to notice male parts, but it seems there are none so far! I'm starting to think I'll pass on the reverse but then i remember the shitty day last week when my lights didn't come on until i manually turned them on, 3 hours late. So maybe it would be a good idea to grab a bottle of reverse at all costs. btw, i'm almost at 50 posts, so very shortly i'll be posting pics of the beautiful ladies, and i wouldn't mind a real lady checking them over for any male parts I might miss if you catch my drift!

Aw the big 5-0, congrats buddy. I know one round I accidentally had my lights on 10/14 for half my flowering. The extended darkness prob won't hurt them just light during dark. You should be fine I think.

Lol! I am a qualified professional when it comes to inspecting male parts.
There's no way anything short of a really well stocked specialty garden center would have Reverse. Most home gardeners don't care whether their fruits have pips in em.
Just go look for tiny ~3mm long things that look like small bunches of bananas... those are male parts.

hahaha! I couldn't find bunches of banannas if they were staring me right in the face. I need a female to find male parts, it only makes sense. only a female would even wanna go looking for male parts. I'll give it a try but if i don't come back with anything in the next 5 minutes i'm going to need a hand. ok?

Here ya go, Nanners. I'm not big on shemales, just don't dig too deep, or your butt may be sore the next day.
