a little help cloning (c'mon u guys havn't faild me yet)

ok the situation is as follows i have been trying to clone a couple of unknown plants i got from bagseed... the first time i tried jiffy pellets with a clear plastic bowl over the top.. baaa boow drooped sprayed them they perked up but after a while they just died,,,, 3nd try.. this time i bought a cloning dome from my hydro shop (in the picture) it consists of the black base (that the water goes in) a seeling tray to sit the clones on and a clear dome with 3 adjustable vents. i also bought some rockwool cubes. both times the clones have been prepeared in the same way.. take a cutting.. trim it at the at the 3rd node,, peel the fan leaves off at the base to expose some of the soft gooieness... dip in clonex purple... drop in medium and trim the leaves down.. i then place them under a 12 in aquerium tube.. the question i have is how much water do i put in the base? should it be in contact with the cubes or just below? thanks in advance for your help (you gus are the best) and sorry for the long winded post.

I had so much trouble cloning at first that I started to wonder wether it was a myth lol. Once you've sussed it though.. its hard to get wrong ever after. My 2 tips that were holding my sucess back are:

1. Give them a good 2 weeks to start forming roots. A lot of people think that after a week they should be rooted but unless ur using aeroponics... give 2 weeks.

2. LEAVE THEM ALONE. Hehe. I know how tempted you get to see if any roots have grown. I used to dig them up very very gently to have a look. Don't! The day I stopped doing this... the day I started to succeed.
