Aldous Huxley
Anyone else into him? His characters can seem a little wooden at times, but my god, does he succeed in his stated goal to arrive at the perfect fusion of the novel and the essay...never read a writer more skilled in his challenge to twentieth-century institutionalized idiocy.
Thoughts?

I read Brave New World and thought that as a novel it drag out a bit in the middle but it is an excellent book none the less. (I really enjoy books trying to predict the future)
I also just read The doors of perception which is about his experience with mescaline. It is good but I have trouble seeing any one with no prior drug experiences relating to much of what he says.

If you dig books that try to predict the future, check out Huxley's "Ape and Essence"! Makes Brave New World look like a fairy tale....

I only did read The doors of perception... it was one of the first books about psychedelics i did read, and surely its one of the (many many) things that led me to smoke weed, my first psychedelic :stoned:

I recently bought The Island and Moksha, and my brother handed down his Brave New World copy to me. I can't wait to get started on them after I finish my current read.
