Substitution Method Temp Problem
Ugh, I screwed up I think. This is the 2nd time I've used Quick Fix, the first time it was absolutely no problem. Somehow this time I managed to get the sample too hot, despite the fact that I had two bottles, one 98 and the other 94 degrees. I believe that the way I had them concealed insulated it too much and the heat pack raised it to 100F.
Anyway, I hand the lady my sample (looking back, why I didn't wait in the bathroom a little bit to let the bottle cool off is beyond me) and she says "100F? I've never seen it jump that high before." She checks the box on the form that says "Is the temperature between 90 and 100F?" with a "yes" but writes "Bottle @ 100" in the remarks section. I looked at the bottle about 60 seconds later and the temp had fallen to 98, so it must have been 100 on the nose.
Have any of you ever passed with the sample being that warm? Why do they have the range as 90F to 100F if 100F is suspicious?

If they didn't kick it out right then your golden. Procedure is to request another sample, unti it gets below 100. their temp strips have some error too so 100 is not that unusuall.

Thanks man, that definitely puts my mind at ease. Do you think they'll ask me to do a retest or I'm pretty safe since they didn't ask for it on the spot?

Substitution Method Temp Problem
My dad's friend used to tape it around his leg right after he got out of the shower so it would read close to his body temp. That sounds a lot more effective than a heat pack unless you're pressed for time.

The only way you'd get 100 degree urine naturally is if you had a fever. Congrats on passing!!!
