Time for US to "send a message"
I keep hearing about the government worrying over "what message" they will send if they are "soft" on pot! Well kids, WE got a chance to SEND BACK a message how WE feel about things! Obama has a site for input on issues. Cannabis isn't among the issues, but there IS a spot for "another issue". THAT'S where you type in "marijuana"! Then say what you think about it in the box below. Here's the link-

This is what I wrote.
"Cannabis is an inexpensive (if home-grown), remarkably safe and versatile herb that can lessen the need for many expensive and addicting pain killers and other drugs. Seniors are often forced to chose between costly medications and food. An easy to grow healing herb could be a blessing for them. Let the states decide if they want it or not. Stop the raids on the dispensaries on "Day One"! Reclassify cannabis, since it clearly DOES have medical value! Stop property seizures for cannabis "offenses". Eliminate the "drugs" question on college loan applications- we "lose" a lot of our brightest to cannabis prohibition's draconian punishments. In recent polls and elections, 65%+ of the public agrees with medical cannabis use- a clear mandate."
OK kids, your turn to write! We got a golden opportunity here! Go for it!

Thanks for the link Storm Crow. My testimony for changing our anti marijuana laws has been submitted. Come on everyone else, flood the white house with support for legal marijuana use, proven to be safer by far than the use of fatal and addictive drugs like alcohol, nicotine and addictive opiates...Peace...

Well, I started writing this, two and-a-half hours ago, then picked it back up to finish. I hope it makes sense.
Just thought I'd share:
Hi, I am a Traumatic Brain Injury survivor, who suffers from permanent pain from a subsequent car-accident. I've tried every way possible, legally and, because of the T.B.I., nothing has been effective. I've been at wit's end, for years, trying to justify the fact that cannabis works amazingly, within seconds. Starting in 1994, I've had problems with double-vision, tinnitus, right-sided slowness, and, an imbalance in my hips. Since 2002, I've been afflicted with daily left-sided pain. In both accidents, I've been granted lawsuit-settlements, yet, they leave me with no medicine for my pain. Life has dealt me a harsh hand, and, if I had found a medicine that works, I would've received it, free through Medicaid/Medicare, plus pain & suffering for the rest of my life. Cannabis works. If the doctors were allowed to prescribe it to me, I would've received it, plus pain & suffering (result of the lawsuit/another driver's failure to yield (eight years after a coma)), for as long as I felt pain (which is permanent). The doctor's prognosis was that I felt it because of the earlier brain-injury. Cannabis works through the cannabinoid system, which has been adversely affected, as opposed, to my opioid system, because of the influx of neurotransmitters at the time of brain trauma. My eyes were tested thirteen, and, thirteen and one-half years after my coma. The first time, cannabis-abstinent for three days, the ophthalmologist said that my eyes weren't working together. The second time, three lung-filling hits in three, and a half, hours beforehand, my vision tested perfect, with my eyes working together. Cannabis speeds up the half of my brain, which was severely injured during the head-injury (another driver, with a station-wagon, broke his legs, while broadsiding into my passenger-door, pushing the door, through my stick-shift, into my driver's seat. I went through a coma, for ten days, waking up on November 1, 1994. I was nineteen. I need Medicare/Medicaid to pay for the only medicine that works, cannabis. Thank you. Chris
Thanks for the site, Granny!

Please tell me this was meant as a joke, right?

Here was my :twocents: for Mr. Obama:
"I know this will only be a drop in the bucket, and possibly even disregarded because of so many other pressing issues in our country, but as a citizen of the United States with an opportunity to possibly hand an opinion to President-elect Obama, I can't pass up the need to ask for equality when comparing the criminal status of a drug like cannabis to other more deadly (and regulated) drugs like alcohol and tobacco.
Regardless of much deeply held public opinion about the use of cannabis, it's becoming increasingly more difficult to deny that medical marijuana could actually be beneficial for people with many ailments like AIDS, cancer, glaucoma, migraines, and so many more. Actual doctors have agreed that there are many perceived benefits to certain groups of people who haven't responded so well to other conventional drug treatments, and are now looking to change the public opinion of cannabis from just another "street drug" to a drug with actual medical uses. I hope that, as President, Mr. Obama will take the time to understand the plight of these patients, and at least be willing to keep an open mind about their testimonies.
Again, I know that the economy, energy independence, stabilizing world relations, and so on, are going to be focal points for a presidency that's coming into existence during very difficult times, but I just have to ask that U.S. citizens be allowed to express why they view medical marijuana (which has been traditionally used as medicine for hundreds of years) as a drug that has proven to be useful, and what benefits they hold for people who need and/or responsibly use them. Here we have a President-elect who is talking about equality and change, well... this would be a landmark issue to prove that he's honestly willing to be open-minded. American citizens are tired of being told they're 'criminals' because they choose to responsibly use a substance that is far less deadly than alcohol and nicotine, and which can greatly reduce the pain of many specific ailments -- many of which, again, can't be controlled via conventional medical methods.
Thanks for your time."
Hopefully a lot more people will view this thread and take the time to express their opinions, too. Thanks again Granny!
