    Very basic help

    Hey everyone.

I'm a first time grower. I'm not taking it too seriously; I've just got a rectangular shaped flower bed thing. It's about 6-10 inches wide by 2 feet or so in length. In this pot I just put some simple schwag seeds I got from a sack. I guess I wasn't paying attention when I put the seeds in after sprouting. A couple of them are ridiculously close together. Oddly enough those are the ones growing the fastest.

I live in warm climate, so even these days it still gets to about 80 degrees during the day. At night and in the mornings it's pretty chilly, I would assume too cold for the little guys. I've been taking them into the garage and putting them under a lamp. I don't think it's really a special bulb of any sort, but it's decently bright and gives off some warmth for them.

They were growing pretty nicely and then I decided to give them some extra kick. I just used typical miracle grow lol I don't know if that works. I think I gave them too much though because the leaves burned a bit. Some of them look pretty beat up but not too bad. There is one with almost no damage at all. The leaves on some are deformed now.

Is it bad to be constantly bringing them in and taking them back outside?
Will the burn go away after a while or are they screwed?
Why have they slowed in their growing?
There is also one that looks in decent shape but it just seems like a runt. What causes things like this?

I'm just looking for basic information for when I do them in the future. I'm going to keep trying with these little guys and see how they do. I don't even know which are male or female, I was just planning on waiting till they show signs and then yank the males out.

If you're kind enough to reply please use simple language, I don't know anything about this stuff. Furthermore, don't tell me to go get crazy lamps or fertilizer 'cause I won't. I'm trying to be as natural as possible...not for any particular reason, I'm just not uber serious. I'm just trying to save myself some money and have some fun.

    Thanks!!

    Very basic help

If you post some pictures then that might get you better info. I am still new myself but will try to help with info I have read on here. I have only done the indo thing so far. Reg lights won't give you the light you need. Also the plants need a lighting sceduele. Also you need to pick one indoor or outdoors. I really think its a bad time to try to grow outdoors. I have read to start outdoors after the last frost. Like you I live in warm weather.I'm not sure if that changes. But I think it also has to do with the kinda light we get. as to what time of year it is.

If you have a place to put them indoor and can put them on a 24hr light sceduale that would be good. The thing is you would have to at least get some CFL's to give them the light they need.

It would be better if you can get them in thier own pots. You didn't say how old they are so not sure you can still do that. You will need another plan like getting a bigger pot like you can transplant them to.

As for the burning with the ferts you need to flush them with water that has the right ph. You really need to keep the ph at 6.8 or close to that.

If you really don't want to deal with any of that then just plant them in the ground flush them with water and water. It sounds to me like that would be the best thing for you if you don't care one way or the other. That way you give them a fighting chance and if they die it won't really matter.

Growing is just like anything your going to get out of it what you put into it. If you don't care what the weed taste like or you don't care about yeilds just stick them in the ground and check them every week or so till you want to harvest.
