Yes, but in the present, dogs are bred for appearance. And those dogs were bred for appearance and stature- every time you add one more variable that you MUST have, your chances of breeding-out an undesirable trait in a reasonable amount of time, without sacrificing the scale of how well you are getting the desirable traits, diminish.

You are right, Stinky, and it's a shame that canine viciousness will increase due to this stupid trend. Our ancestors' wisdom should not be forgotten.

I wonder what breed Barack's daughters will be receiving...

And Stinky IS right, that's the main reason why I hate show dogs. They're like those chicks in high school that know they are beautiful, so they act like, well, bitches. I prefer pedigrees that haven't graced the show, from a breeder that actually does breed for character. My personal favorite is the pitbull, second would be rottweiler, third doberman pinschers, and then the malamutes. Of course, it's too hot here for them.

These "hated breeds" have always been the sweetest to me, atleast, the ones who didn't turn out to be fight dogs.

Bulldogs and mastiffs are VERY loyal to their families adn protective of children in that family. The Obamas should get one! Did you know the pitbull used to be called the 'nanny dog' because it was so tolerant of kids?

Really? I can totally see why, haha. One of my friends had a pitbull, and five small children siblings. Fully grown, the dog would always just run away and hide when it just had enough of those crazy kids. She always did greet me lovingly. Rather protective, too.

    Good times,

Good one Stinkyattic! I think they were bred to go down rat holes and kill rats. I guess that's why they nip, they don't have any rats to kill nowadays. They are frustrated to be out of work........damn Bush economy.

EDiT: I don't want a big dog in the white house pooping on MY floors I vote for a Jack Russell or a Shetland Sheepdog

I've been bitten by at least 2 different Jacks. More varmint-huntin' dogs, ugh.
How about a Corgi, so it can double as a footrest when Mr. President comes home from a long day Presidenting? They have always just looked like a cheery piece of mobile furniture to me.

The Queen sure loves her Corgis and they do make adorable puppies.

I've been snapped at by a Jack Russell Terrorist too. They have pint-sized attitude, they do. Compensation.

Was that George Bush walking the dog? 'Twas hard to tell from the back. All I can about this is GO BARNEY! Bite them paparazzi, and bite them hard.

I always figured that if I were a celebrity and getting followed by paparazzi, I would tell them on camera "If you guys want to follow me, have at it. But I consider all of you fair game for some martial arts practice". After which I'd hunt them down, any time I saw them following me, and with a big smile give them a thorough ass-kicking.

    Barney has started the revolution!
