Does Smoking Weed Stop You Dreaming?

If I smoke right before bed, I have very vivid dreams. Always, though, I never remember my dreams much later after I wake up. I wish I did.. my dreams are always amazing imp:

Does Smoking Weed Stop You Dreaming?

From what I understand... like previously stated, dreaming does, in-fact, occur during REM sleep. Thats why its "Rapid Eye-Movement". However, REM sleep is not necessarily restful; breathing and heartbeat are irregular, and brain-waves are similar to what they are during waking hours. Popular thought in the scientific community suggests that this is when our brain is updating and consolidating spacial and procedural memory. REM sleep typically occurs at the beginning and end of the sleeping process.

Non-REM sleep are the 4 stages of sleep that most often occur in-between REM sleep. Stage 1 is the initial transition into sleep, generally followed by REM sleep. Stage 2 is the transition into the deep sleep of stages 3 and 4. Also called "slow-wave sleep," the brain at this point has slowed to a delta-wave, and the body does the majority of its repair work at this time. Dreaming is much less common during nREM sleep, and is disconnected and vague when it does happen.

People who claim to have very vivid, lucid dreams or OBO's are having these experiences during REM sleep, and for this reason often do not feel rested upon waking, as the body did not enter the deeper, restful sleep stages.

Most people tend to wake up naturally; even with alarm clocks my biological clock usually wakes me up about 10 seconds to a minute before my alarm goes off. Generally, people will experience a short period of light sleep following a bout of REM right before waking up. This is most likely the time in which we are forgetting what we dreamt about. It has been suggested to have somebody set your alarm back 5 minutes earlier than you usually wake without you knowing. If you wake up in the middle of a dream, you are much more likely to remember it. Interestingly enough, this has seemed to work for me.

haha its worth a try right? It usually helps if you have a solid sleep schedule, which is one thing I never really had in my life until I was working construction away from home, sleeping in hotels and not smoking weed :P

My boyfriend had to quit smoking for probation. He says that now he is having all these whacked out dreams, whereas before he never used to dream, atleast remember dreaming. Me personally, I still dream whether I smoke or not.
