You call it! Obama or McCain?
Dude, I'm 42. I think I get the big picture. I've got plenty of life experience, and most of my jobs have been working for small busineses. I've rejected some jobs at small businesses in the past because they didn't offer healthcare --- maybe if I could buy private insurance at group rates with no exclusion for pre-existing conditions, I would have taken those jobs. Obama's healthcare plan is going to help small businesses get good employess who want healthcare.

Do you make over $250,000 per year? If not, then your taxes will go down, not up. If you do make that much, then I actually think you could afford to pay more. And I disagree that the extra money will go to "slugs that won't work because they get that free money, food, and housing form the government."

We've had progressive income tax for something like 70 or 80 years or more --- have we been socialist that whole time? Socialism is state ownership of the means of production. Obama has never proposed anything like that. If you are worried about nationalization of businesses, you should be more worried about Bush than Obama. Bush is a big fan of socialism for the wealthy --- privatize the profits, nationalize the losses.

McCain's argument has been basically, Look how WE abused OUR power when Republicans held both houses and the presidency --- don't give the Democrats the same power you gave US. That's ridiculous. Republicans need to take some time off and think about why they became so far out of touch with mainstream America that they are going to be completely stripped of all their political power. They brought in on themselves. And the Democrats need to look at what happened to the Republicans and not make the same mistakes. If they do win control of all branches, and they do make the same mistakes, then you get the chance to vote them out of congress in 2 years, and retake the presidency in 4. That's the beauty of Democracy.
If you are just making these arguments because you like to argue politics or you want to convince others of how to vote, then that is great. But if you REALLY are WORRIED about these things you brought up, like you said you were, then you need to relax. Obama is a real American citizen, and he is not going to throw out the Constitution, take away your guns, tax you into poverty, and turn us into a socialist country. You are going to feel pretty silly in a few years when none of the crap you are worried about comes to pass, and instead the country has a strong economy, good jobs, a good healthcare system, more renewable energy, less pollution, strong allies, greater security, etc., etc. Hell, you might even vote to re-elect Obama in 4 years.
