friend gave 250watt hps bulb but all i have is a 150w rated ballast?

hey guys my title says it all^ my friend gave me his 250 watt bulb from his last grow, will this work on my 150w rated ballast?? im guessing not... but it would be cool if i didnt have to go buy a new bulb :jointsmile: thanks for all the help in advance

A 250 watt HPS bulb needs a 250 watt, rated ballast. Also; if the bulb is HPS, the ballast needs to be the same or 'switchable'. Some ballasts are switchable (between HPS/MH) ...some are not.

damn i didnt think it would work, and by the way the ballast is for an hps light. o well i guess im off to the hydro store then :jointsmile:
